We really have seen the power of the internet in this election more than any other. Instead of just getting the real news first, people are now finding the real news and getting their voice heard. In 10 years or so, we will look back and see how far we have become. As our founding fathers knew so well, knowledge is power. That is why we have freedom of speech and expression. The MSM over the last 25 years, has basically attempted a coup on the American people. They had just about succeeded until the internet and Fox came along. It is amazing to watch this kind of story unfold in real time. Great job to everyone who made this happen.

I just checked the LA Times and they were still showing the original story citing the "60 Min" documents as evidence. I wrote them at the news desk and said the WashPost and ABC News were calling the doc's forgeries: DON"T YOU THINK IT's TIME TO TAKE THESE FAKE DOCUMENTS OFF YOUR WEBSITE???? DON'T YOU GUYS READ THE PAPERS?!

I posted someof this on another thread, but I'll repeat it here to support your comments.

Before hightailing it out of DC, I was a policy wonk, working with some big names on behalf of the 'little people.' Some of the policy issues I covered were the Internet and political participation. But what these wonks really wanted was to tell people what they should read and what was authoritative (particularly how MSM was going to create and maintain control of online news), with the result being that everyone would just 'naturally' come to agree on what was right (as long as it was left, of course)

It just thrills me to see outlets such as FR standing the wonks and the MSM on their ears. Almost everything they thought about the Net was wrong. The only thing they got right was their fear that power would be in the hands of the people.

God bless Jim Robinson and Free Republic!

Well said and I agree. Well done to all involved!

Very well stated, gswilder. That is why the slugs and powers-that-be shall be hell-bent-for-leather to put an end to the upstarts. We will need to be hypervigilant to protect the gains we have made and disallow the forces arrayed against freedom the ability to regulate the free speech and ability to communicate with one another so easily that the net has afforded us.
