Statement by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)
George W. Bush ^ | September 9, 2004

Posted on 09/09/2004 7:02:36 PM PDT by RWR8189

WASHINGTON, DC – Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), today issued the following statement on Tom Harkin's vicious attacks on President Bush:

"Sen. Tom Harkin's vicious attacks today crossed the line of acceptable political discourse and are another example of John Kerry and his surrogates taking the low road and making accusations they know are false. Harkin's flailing attack this afternoon was made on behalf of a desperate candidate who realizes voters are not trusting his constantly changing positions on the War on Terror. While John Kerry and his fellow Democrats are unable to move beyond what happened 35 years ago and unwilling to discuss Kerry's 19 year Senate record, President Bush is offering a positive vision for a safer world and a more hopeful America."

See http://www.theiowachannel.com/politics/3719652/detail.html Harkin said these records show that the president hasn't been honest.

"The documentation shows that the president was not being truthful," Harkin said. "The president lied to the American people in the Oval Office when he spoke with Tim Russert. That's why this is news. It goes to the character of George W. Bush."

Ouch, that's gonna leave a real big mark.

Give Harkin a break, he was probably having a flashback episode to his not-in-any-way-associated-with-Vietnam tour at COMFAIRWESTPAC. NAF Atugi must have been hell.

Another thing that is totally bogus about Harkin is that he did duty with the Naval Reserves after getting off active duty. He knows how the system works and that the President's records show that he had Sat years for the five years in the reserves.

One of the things that has been a constant throughout these attacks on the President is that most of the people running their sucks obviously have little or no knowledge of the military. Harkin has no excuse.

Harkin called the President a liar:

"The documentation shows that the president was not being truthful," Harkin said. "The president lied to the American people in the Oval Office when he spoke with Tim Russert. That's why this is news. It goes to the character of George W. Bush."

What did Harkin say?

I was curious about that myself.

Did a search on CSPAN to see if they had the video posted yet... Harkin videos on CSPAN .

The most recent videos are all about his endorsement of Dean, so it's a given he's a rabid, lying, whacko RAT. Hopefully CSPAN will post Harkin's press conference later on today.

See post Guard records stir Democrats for info about Harkin lying about his own Vietnam service and a great picture of Harkin with Kerry and Sandinista Daniel Ortega . The picture says it all...

Harkin was just on Fox pretty much repeating what post #5 had on his link Harkin: Bush Lied To America
