Washington, DC, Sep. 9 (UPI) -- The Cybercast News Service reported Thursday documents casting doubt on the U.S. president's national guard service might be fakes.
CNS, an Internet-based news organization affiliated with a conservative media watchdog group, said the 32-year-old documents used by CBS to cast "a negative light on President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, may have been forged using a current word processing program."
The news organization said three independent typography tests indicated "they were suspicious of the documents" because they used a modern Microsoft Word font feature that was not available in 1972 or 1973.
The documents were featured Wednesday on "60 Minutes II" and allegedly came from the personal files of former Bush squadron Cmdr. Jerry B. Killian, now dead.
CBS will not say how it obtained them. John Collins, the chief technology officer of Bitstream, Inc., cited the use of a superscript "th" in one document as a reason to be suspicious. "That would not be possible on a typewriter or even a word processor at that time," Collins said. "It is a very surprising thing to see a letter with that date (May 4, 1972) on it.
There's no question that that is surprising. Does that force you to conclude that it's a fake? No. But it certainly raises the eyebrows."

Was an inspired moment! :-D
You are good...lol.
I was at a Dem Delegate's today to fix a computer. She said the Doc's came from Texas Veterans for Truth. I never heard of them.
She said they are a group to counter the swiftvets.
BTW, she went into meltdown mode when I told her the doc's are forgeries.
Independent document examiner Sandra Ramsey Lines said the memos looked like they had been produced on a computer using Microsoft Word software, not widely available when the documents were supposedly written in 1972 and 1973.
"Not widely available"? Bill Gates hadn't even founded Microsoft in 1972. The first versions of Word for DOS didn't come out until the 1980s.
A Fox producer was able to produce a document that was identical to the CBS doc using one of the current word processing programs.
Probably deserves it own link:

There is absolutely no doubt that the document shown is a fake. It was created using a modern PROPORTIONAL SPACED font which, to my information, did not exist at that time on ANY typewriter.
In addition, I can recall NO typewriter that had superscript capability.
This is criminal and those perpetuating this info should be sued for libel which can be done because it is WITH MALICIOUS INTENT AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE FALSETY OF THE ALLEGATIONS.
Somebody please tell Geraldine Ferraro and Alan Colmes to SHUT UP. What a mess listening to these 4 people on Hannity & Colmes. Thank God SHE lost when SHE ran for Vice President. Hey, now there's a winning duo. Geraldine Ferraro & Hillary Clinton. OOOOOOOOOH NOOOOOOO!

Not just good, YOU'RE GREEEAAAT!!
My dad served in the Air Force Reserve and we still have his papers.
I don't ever recall seeing a letter w/o an Air Force letterhead and I never have seen a unit with a PO Box as its address.
At the very minimum, this looks suspicious to me.
The libs slung a dumptruck full of mud yesterday. By this afternoon, the streets are clean and the only thing with mud still on it are the Democrats and their MSM mouthpieces.
CBS News in Los Angeles still broadcasting their lying story about the documents & Bush. Liars. They have no integrity. You think they'll try anything to defeat Bush? You think?
