General Staudt was retired!
Powerline ^ | Sept 9 2004 | Big Trunk

Posted on 09/09/2004 4:34:07 PM PDT by Dog

UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:

Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.

The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

The applicant looked at the inteviewer, and somberly replied "Well because Dan ain't never seen a truck wreck, and this one is gonna be a doozy!"

The moral of the story, CBS, you better wake up DAN

Too funny. This Rather gate is not going away quickly.

Whoever did this hatchet job,was a lousy forger, who was SO clumsy, that debunking it is proving to be easy and a great "game"! CBS was so damned stupid!

Gotta agree with Mr. Head and Ms. Pardons.

Anyone want to put money on whether or not the "forger" is a Kerry staffer who was hand-picked by Terry McAulffie, (pretty sure I mis-spelled the last name) friend of the Clintons?

Not that any of us will ever know the truth if CBS has anything to do about it.

Induldge my machiavellian side for a minute...the DNC either nudges Dean into an implosion or gives a real hard shove...then orchestrates two of the most liberal candidate's ascension as the nominee for the party. It does this, knowing full well the only way to beat GW is to run a moderate that can attract disaffected voters and the "mushy middle."

who runs the DNC - the Clinton's do via Terry M.

Why would they do this? Hitlery doesn't want to challenge a Demoncrap incumbent? Keery and Edwards would be able to insert their own people into key DNC positions if they win, thus marginalizing Hitlery's influence in the party? A moderate candidate would do the same? None of the candidates indicated they would put Hitlery in as a running mate if they got the nod - forcing her to wait 16 years to run in the event of a win? I could go on...

Lots of interesting permutations which all seem to apply, don't they? It boggles the mind to think this whole stink can be explained by pure incompetence on the part of someone in the Kerry campaign...and it just seems too easy an explanation.

...and it if it gets bad enough for Kerry, she could still step in in 2004 (alhtough I think this is highly unlikely). What would she have to lose if Kerry and Edwards had to step down? She could blame that loss on them...and if she won? Then she would be the DNC savior four years earlier than plan.

Now, I believe she will fail in any case. This kind of mud and slime tends to stick to those who handle it and along with all of the other garbage she is covered in, she will just stink too much for most Americans.

I hope and I pray.

Oh, no. I think there are a number of people who see Clinton all over this. The machinery of the Democratic Party is so corrupt that it could very easily come from either person, imo.

On the Selectric.org site the operator was saying he couldn't find a ball with a "th" symbol on it.

Also, being a typewriter, I don't think whatever symbol is being printed can extend very much above the top of line due to the mechanics of a typewriter. The superscript on the documents in question are significantly higher than the top of line. Without rolling the paper down half a line I don't think you can do it. And what typist would do that?

On a computer, that's standard output.

"Holy crap, Dan looks like a total corrupt A$$!!!"

No-no-no. Dan is just illustrating his thesis, promulgated some time back in answer to a question about Clinton, i.e., that a man can be a pathological liar and still be an honest man at the same time. Yup, he said it, and now he's showing us what it's like.

How is CBS going to explain away the fact that Staudt retired before the memos were written?

Do you know if anyone sent this detail to someone in the media? I've been tempted to e-mail it to Ollie North.

I support the GOP as well....except those protesting, we need free speech Dems....well they keep stealing my Bush/Cheney signs. My solution is to get more, and literally hang them in my trees out of reach of those thoughful Dumbocrats. It seems that they think that freedom of expression on "my" property isn't allowed.

The problem with the media on this forgery issue is that they still have gotten their views "against" Bush and his National Guard duty out to the sheeple. And they are sweeping the forgery issue under the rug already; without loudly proclaming that one of their own is responsible for spreading lies about our president.

Not only is she destroying the two current candidates, she is also ridding herself of more baggage. If you think about it, adding the well known and much detested staff of her hubby to his campaign also ensures they have no future after the election. By sending her well known liars and screamers out now, she can hire fresh faces and not have their names attached to her in any way. Whaddya think?

Excellent analysis--it's actually a twofer!!! [ Just like Hitlery herself ]

They will reliably follow orders to make sure Kerry is well and truly deep-sixed politically.... and then they, like old soldiers, just simply fade away...leaving Hitlery to bring in all-new fresh faces.

Ha! We have had our signs stolen too! I am just hoping (dreaming) that they are taking them away to use at their own homes! :) Every time they take one, we replace it with another.

I'll throw my 2-cents into the guessing ring:

1. Blather finds out that he was setup. And like the other dark lord, he finally comes to a realization that the "dark side" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

2. So - in his death throes, he takes the emperor (the MSM/liberal establishment) and publicly throws them to their death.

Remember where you heard it first.

Regards,

My son and I think this is the end of the national news media's reputation. (Not that I've believed anything CBS has said for years!)

Thanks for the ping
