Kimmer just announced that he would discuss the attacks on Pres. Bush. by see BS and said (no equivications)that the documents are fake. Kimmer is on WGST in ATlanta. Detail as I get them....
Doesn't this make my suggestion (#32, 35 above) more plausible? He handwrote them, and then got worried that someone writing a book about him might not be able to read his handwriting, so he (or his wife or personal assistant) types them up, signs them, and files them away.
Not disclose the source? They didn't even HAVE a credible source,I'd wager. Strange what one can make up/forge in the back room of a studio.
Channel surfed past Rather last night...the "seriousness of the charge" news is disgusting. Had to turn off Rush 'cause I couldn't stand the "news" about the President.
Nope in the Navy a Commander would have had his Yeoman or LT do the job. Not sure the MOS in the army - but would have likely been a private/corporeal.
Nope in the Navy a Commander would have had his Yeoman or LT do the job. Not sure the MOS in the army - but would have likely been a private/corporeal. Although this was supposedly a set of private notes. so anything is possible.
I heard rush say at end of program 'documents may be faked'. I have heard hints that something is coming, but so far nothing. If these documents are faked...see BS is in big trouble as is Rather. Why won't they say where these documents came from...I don't think these are among the documents that were released because of lawsuit.
Well, I suppose anything is possible--including taking your own memos and re-doing them on a typewriter decades later JUST IN CASE the subject might run for President some day.
Yeah, that'd be the way some would RATHER see it.
(I don't mean you.)
The remarkable thing about the genuine Bush documents is they don't even look like they were typed on anything as fancy as an ordinary Selectric. The Selectrics used whirling balls with the leters and other symbols raised above their surfaces and usually produced quite straight lines of letters. Other, less expensive, typewriters of the time used letters on indivdual keys. Any of the individual key typewriteers would produce a line of letters which weren't quite straight. Look carefully at the copies of the actual Bush records--the type lines on all are a bit jagged, showing they were typed using a cheaper typewriter than a Selectric.
The foregoing remark is based on direct personal knowledge. I went to law school from 1964 through 1967, was in the Army from 1968 through 1969, practicesd law therafter, and personally observed all of the machines I'm writing about.
Not if he can produce the originals.(;>)
Am I the only one right now who is thinking about Alger Hiss, Whitaker Chambers and an Underwood typewriter????
In fact, journalists should be compelled to expose such frauds, for the good of the readership/viewership.
Refusing to do so, Rather should be marched to the curb, sans badge, with his belongings in a box.
If this was the case, they are not original documents and should not have been presented as such...in my opinion if these are not original....the story backfires on the Dems.
Still waiting...now listening to Hannity...Anyone heard anything from anywhere. I just have a feeling this story is about to blow up.
Yep... I took typing in school on both a selectric, and on a manual underwood typewritter. Who really wanting to forge documents that would be looked at with scrutiny from coast to coast wouldn't think to use a 30 year old typewritter?? I mean this person is either an idiot or they wanted to get caught.
i smell a sucker punch. it seems to me that it would be political death to use false documents unless it's to get the buzz about them started on both sides of the argument, then produce the actual documents saying that an underling made an "error in judgement". this would boost the attention the whole fiasco gets wouldn't it??
Can anyone mention a similar pro Republican defense/hit piece aired during the heat of a campaign?
or....see BS got the documents from what they consider an unimpeachable source, and they have been had...I noticed on the programs they did not say conclusively that these documents were genuine...only they thought they were genuine.
I believe an FR post says this memo writer died in 1984
I just heard on Hannity... during a call he says they have verified the kind of font used in the documents did not exist in the 1970's. He is waiting to see what see BS will do about this. He said a freeper alerted him to this fact; way to go Howlin. You go girl.
