WANA, Pakistan, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Dozens of people were killed on Thursday in air strikes by Pakistani jet fighters in the South Waziristan tribal area which borders Afghanistan, a witness said.
About 40 members of Afghanistan's ousted Taliban militia and other Islamic militants were attacked during a meeting in the village of Laggimanzai, close to the Afghan border. Villager Ajab Nur told Reuters that many more civilians were killed in a subsequent air strike when they gathered to survey the damage.

What do we make of this? Lots of bad guys are dead. That's a good thing.
Sorry if my response was too complicated. :-p

He said they were not in any way connected to suspected Chechen and Arab militants who took hundreds hostage at a school in southern Russia earlier this month. At least 330 people -- many of them children -- died in the end to that siege.I bet that was the first question asked by some egghead reporter.

And, as I said, if we'd gone after Pakistan instead they would be first in line complaining that we didn't go after Iraq.
hmmm... let's compare -- Iraq: run by a secular dictator who came to power in a coup (overthrowing another Baathist), Pakistan: run by a slamofascist dictator who came to power overthrowing a legitimately elected government.
Irq: Saddam re-elected with 98% of the votes, Pakistan: Mushie reelected with 98% of the votes.
Irq: Christians could live with the same level of fear as the rest of the Iraqis -- no discimination, Pakistan: Shariah land, Christian, Hindus etc. are routinely tried and executed for treason, churchs are burnt etc.
Oh: Irq: no shariah, Pakistan: Shariah
Then, Iraq: trying to get WMD, close to getting it. Pakistan: already have WMD -- are the owners of the so-called "Isslamic bombb" (actually Chinese made) and have extensive biological and chemical weapons.
IRaq: not a nuclear proliferator (a likely recipient, but not a proliferator), Pakistan: sold nukes to North Korea in exchange for missiles, nearly sold nukes to IRq, Iran, Libya etc.
Iraq: terrorist training camp, though mostly restricted to the middle east. Pakistan: terrorist training camp, trainign grounds for alQaeda, sponsors of the Taliban and hosts to OBL (probably still are).
We should invade Pakistan and NOW. The Pakis are the enemy. The money and weapons we send them will be used against us

Pakistan is an ally in the war on terror. They've captured quite a few Al Qaeda leaders since the start of the war.
Pakistan is playing us for a sucker. They are the ones who create the Taliban and were instrumental in the funding and foundign of AlQaeda. THey trained both the groups (the paki ISI probabaly still does). They also gave nukes to North Korea and nearly gave 'em to Irqaq, Iran and Libya.
They haven't actually captured any AlQ "Leaders", just minnows tossed to us to keep us deluded. Ever notice that they are always ont he verge of capturing some alq "leader" just when the US is deliberating whether we need to send them more money or weapons? After we have done that, they either "lose" the "leader" or capture some minnow.
They are playing us for suckers and fools and we are the fools

I couldn't disagree with you more.
Even the Senate Intelligence Committee report contains over 60 pages of direct connections between Iraq and Islamic terrorists and specifically Al Qaeda.
The Report details 78 different reports from different sources that Hussein's regime was actively training Iraqi intelligence soldiers for terrorist attacks against America.
The Report details that Iraq provided Al Qaeda with training, bomb making, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training.
The Report mentions direct meetings between senior Iraqi military officera nd top Al Qaeda operatives took place between the early 90's and 2003.
On July 21, 2001, the Iraqi newspaper Al Nasiriya talked about how OBL was gonig to "bomb the Pentagon after he destroys the White House" and that OBL will "strike America on the arm that is already huring" (first WTC attack) and we will "curse the memory of Sinatra every time he hears his song" (a reference to NY, NY).
Tell Freepers that you HONESTLY believe if Saddam would be doing all the work that Pakistan is doing rolling up AQ and terrorists. Come on. Just be honest about it for a second. It's inconceivable, isn't it. Thought so.

I'm not talking about the links between Irq and alQ -- they PALE in comparison to the links, funding etc. done by the Pakis. Pakistan created the Taliban and was instrumental in creating and funding alQ. The Paki army still trains terrorists

THe Pakis are NOT doing any real work to stop alQ-- it's just wool beinig pulled over our eyes -- they're still deeply involved int he training of terrorists and the funding of Alq

Riiiiight.
Thankfully those in power disagree with you. I'll take our military intelligence over yours on this matter any day.
And I gather from your non-answer that you do actually believe that Saddam would be helping us roll up AQ. Hah! I have a bridge you may wish to buy as well.

I hope that including Osama ."
My vote is that he is already dead and if not, would never at this point attend such a large meeting.
I greatly respect General Musharref. He had giant balls to stand up and do the right thing for his people. His own intelligence directly aids Al Queda but he controls the army. People wonder why we gave Pakistan billions in aid why they didn't move sooner. It takes time to replace corrupt intelligence officials with integrity to get the kind of intel to make a effective attack possible.

actually thePresident agrees with me -- it's just the old foggies who have their heads still stuck in the Cold War that are supporting the Islamic state of Pakistan.

And you base your "proof" on a non-answer. Just what I'd expect from somewhat fooled by Pakistani "efforts to catch AlQaeda"

I greatly respect General Musharref. He had giant balls to stand up and do the right thing for his people. His giant b**** were squeezed by our govt to make sure he allowed us to use Paki airspace for the Afghan war -- and he was psuhed by the fact that India was the first to offer use of their airspace for the war, so the Pakis knew that if they didn't co-operate, their own slamofascist state would be pulled down.

In reading "American Soldier" General Tommy Franks book, he writes about Musharraf.
He said they talked not as A General and a President but soldier to soldier.
Musharraf did not like the Taliban but needed Afghanistan militarily. He needed space to fight India. And he also said his nukes were and always will be defensive.
Franks says man to man he believes Musahrraf. The man does not like Islamic or Hindu terrorists.
