You may want to check your breaking-news sidebar. There's a pair of stories (here and here) reporting a massive explosion in North Korea, complete with a mushroom cloud a couple miles across.

Hold onto your hats, and pray that it is just another train collision like the last one (but that it isn't nearly as deadly as that one).

Saw that. Here's hoping its a low yield test,, that went atmospheric, by accident and not intentionally.

Daewoo Automotive went bankrupt and sold to . . .

Americans.

General Motors bought Daewoo Automotive in a Korean bankruptcy court.

BMW was bought by Cardacians. They're built on Vulcan.

but the Vulcan's built by Honda so they're all built in Tokyo...

Hey.

I was at the race in Richmond. Sitting in Commonwealth section I...right across from Little E's pit box.

Ronan Tynan is the freaking man. "God Bless America" rocks. I don't care if the NY Yankees get that for home games....I'm glad I got to hear it once live.

Then it was followed up by Rumsfled leading THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. And **EVERYBODY** was reciting it. Probaly 80,000 of the 105,000 people in attendance were in there seats at the time.....and it was followed up by an impromptu chant of "USA...USA...USA" for about half a minute.

That chant threw off the timing of the F-16 flyover....they shot across the track halfway through the Star Spangled Banner....(since noise restrictions are lifted during the Cup Races they come over LOW and FAST).

All and all...great race...great event...and the MRN interview with Rumsfeld was cool listening in on my scanner. He basically said he saw his 1st stock car race back in the 40's or 50's I think...but had never watched a race recently until watching the CA race in prep for coming to Richmond...now he's hooked.

The reception he got compared to our Democratic governor was as clear as night and day.

Bush dosen't need to spend another dime in VA to carry this state.

very cool!

on the tube, the pledge, God Bless America, and the Anthem were exellent,

the flyover footage lost a little in a dark haze.

what a great race to have gotton to go to.

thank you for sharing a live perspective.

Wow, the 1940's and 1950's?

Dan Rather (remember him?) used to work as a track announcer on dirt tracks in Texas in an earlier time.

Two turning points in the NNCS Chase:

1. Michigan and Fontana. The inability of the Chevrolets to be competitive at either track cost Bobby Labonte and Kevin Harvick clearly. No Monte Carlos were even up on the pylon at either race, and the cars weren't competitive against the Taurus and Intrepid. Had the Chevrolets been able to be competitive, that would have changed the whole complexion of the championship.

2. Bristol Day. Penalty on McMurray. Who would have tought a 25-point penalty could turn the Chase in a huge manner?

On to the chase . . . too bad Cochran decided a cookie cutter deserves a Ten Most Wanted instead of having the sport's Fenway or Augusta National. And Allen, remember, it was Chris Myers who used the Fenway/Lambeau/Augusta analogy for Darlington years ago. IMO, the lawsuit which took Darlington away will haunt NASCAR for years to come. Believe me, Darlington was set for having the greatest Southern 500 in history because instead of it becoming just another race, or a race to see who's #10 (just like who's #8 in NBA playoffs, or even #4 or #8, depending on style, in your minor league hockey), now it's set on who will be #1. Oh, how do itiot arrogants think they can be kingmakers?

I missed the race! My son's 5th birthday party put me in the middle of a crew of giggling kiddos at Chuck E Cheese, instead of in front of my television in my Team 48 pjs! (Although it didn't go well for Jimmie.) I would LOVE to have seen that one live, though! I was at the Penn 500 this year and it was just awesome! Jimmie won, I was able to stand behind them in victory lane to take pictures, Chad Knaus gave me a hat, then autographed it...I went home on cloud 9!

Next week is about an hour from my house and I can't go! My oldest son has a football game that day. These kids keep getting in the way of my Nascar addiction! Sheesh! :)
