ISLAM: TWO WOMAN BATHE FULL-CLOTHED,LIFEGUARD MAKES THEM LEAVE

(AGI) - Bolzano, Italy, 7 September - Two Muslim women went into a swimming pool fully clothed - wearing a tunic and the veil as their religion demands - to accompany their children as they were bathing. Other swimmers protested to the lifeguard who immediately asked them to get out of the water. This took place at the Lido di Bolzano.

The Council has spoken about 'respect for the rules' and 'health reasons'. The leaders of the Muslim community in Bolzano understand the ban on swimming in a chador, but at the same time have asked for women only pools as there are in Muslim countries.

The two women, accompanied to Bolzano's lido by their children and a man, after having taken the sun while dressed, wanted to refresh themselves. They approached the pool, to follow their children, entered the water and then faced the 'revolt' of a large number of bathers.

"Things like that should no longer happen. There is a rule. One cannot get into the pool while clothed, but only in a swimming costume - argued Giustina Marinucci, Bolzano Council's director of sport. "I respect the Muslim religion, but they need to adapt, as we do when we enter their mosques. There are hygienic reasons for the ban on entering a pool while dressed."

Aboulkheir Breigheche, the head of the Muslim community said: "In Italy it may be necessary to create pools just for men and just for women. They are free not to respect Islam, but the religion permits bathing just in costume only if there are just women present." (AGI)

"Actually there are plenty of people whom I would urge to wear more clothing in and around pools and the beach..."

Agree with you!

Among many reasons why they shouldn't not bathe fully clothed is none other than the weight of the extra clothes posses a safety risk If the life guard has to perform a rescue. The Wet heavy clothes gets in the way and could endanger both the victim and the life guard.

Besides that- no one has a right to swim. if they can't follow the rules get out. or rent a pool for private use, there are plenty of Muslims around now it shouldn't be to expensive

I'm losing patience, too, Scourge, and I believe strongly in being fully dressed! These people are impossible!

The truth is better. Sometimes you just can't make this stuff up.

You weren't kidding! I am agog.

I am also baffled as to how any woman could convert to this religion, unless her self-esteem and self respect were already shattered.

If she does not groom herself or apply perfume for one day, she will look dreadful and stink. For a number of days every month she has impurity pouring out of her. If one had to just go near such impurity, one will wish to flee. Imagine if she went to the toilet and forget to flush and, if you had to enter the toilet, will you still have the desire to gaze at her? If this woman does not have Deen, then by raising her arms and exposing her unsightly armpits, she will give out the smell of a skunk. These are some thoughts (although undignified), will assist one in taming the evil desire to look at women.

Lifeguards have every right to kick them out. That clothing could weight down the victim sending her to the bottom. It is then the lifeguards responsibility to save her sorry butt, but the guards life will also be put in danger if the weight of the victim and weight of the accessory clothing is too much to allow for the safe rescue.

Geez. No wonder they have to wear burqas. Maybe just a peek under the burqa will turn any Muslim gay.

ISLAM: TWO WOMAN BATHE FULL-CLOTHED,LIFEGUARD MAKES THEM LEAVE

Meet the requirements or leave. In Skokie or Evanston, IL this happened and they were made to get out of the pool.

Imagine a religion where people wore two pounds of raw beef tied to their heads, changing it once a week. These folks want to swim in the public pools or go to movie theaters, etc.. and complain that their religion is being discriminated against when they are forbidden to do so. This illustrates the danger of making props into an integral part of one's public religious life.

Warm welcome for 'Sharia swimsuit'

A customer examines a selection of "Sharia swimsuits" in a Cairo boutique
By Caroline Hawley in Cairo

What do you do if you are an observant Muslim woman but you also like swimming?

This year, shops in Egypt have the answer: You buy what has become known as the "Sharia swimsuit".

It is part of a growing industry catering for religiously-observant women.

It mustn't be attractive for strange men to look at a lady, how she is dressed. No

Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Hanafi, Sunni Muslim leader
It is no longer mainly the westernised elite that can afford such leisure activities as swimming.

More and more Egyptians, including the more religious, can now do so as well.

In such a conservative society, many women have until now either had to sit on one side or go into the water in their clothes.

All covering

The "Sharia swimsuit" offers one solution. It is a high-necked, swimming costume with sleeves and a small skirt, to be worn over long trousers.

It first appeared a few years ago, but was expensive and hard to find.

This year, it is widely available - and comes in new cuts and colours.

Woman bathing
In the past, conservative Muslim women have bathed fully clothed
A salesman at the Sports Mall in Nasr City shows me rails of the new Egyptian-produced swimsuits.

10 models are available but are they selling well?

"Of course they're selling well, very well," says the salesman.

"You know we're living here in an Islamic country, it must be popular."

However, the highest religious authority for Sunni Muslims, Al-Azhar, does not recognise the new swimming costume.

One of its clerics, Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hanafi, says there is no such thing as an Islamically-acceptable swimsuit - the only thing Sharia law recognises is Islamic dress that is meant to protect women from what he calls "gossiping eyes."

Conditions

"Islamic dress must have conditions," he says.

"It mustn't be (so) tight that exposes part of the body, mustn't be translucent that the person can see through,"

Size and colour, please?
Size and colour, please?
"Also it mustn't be attractive for strange men to look at a lady, how she is dressed. No."

The sheikh, though, had not seen one of the costumes.

But 15-year Nasr has - and she's a convert.

"The Islamic swimming suits they are better for us because of our religion and everything which says that we must be properly covered," she says.

"It is easier for us than to wear normal swimming suits because some of the parents do not like their girls going around in the normal cuts of swimming suits.

"It allows women or girls to do what they were not able to do before in an Islamic way."

The new swimsuit is, by shopkeepers' accounts, a big hit this summer among women who wear the veil.

Important market

As Egypt becomes more of a consumer society, they are an increasingly important market.

The Geneina shopping mall in the adjacent neighbourhood of Nasr City, boasts a smart fashion boutique for veiled women alongside shops selling skimpy t-shirts.

It is not that more women are now covering their heads.

That happened in the late 1970s and 1980s as a religious revival swept the region.

What is new is that more and more products are now being targeted specifically at religiously-observant women.

The new swimsuit is just the latest splash.

Precisely!

Those cowards on the city council of Hammatrack-may their chains be heavy as they labor under the enslavement of their new State religion-were bowing to the same pressures that this country has yielded to for the past three decades.

It's time that we stood up these RDDB and their novel cause, which they apparently don't realize, will lead to their own bondage and eventual death.

The next time that one of these legal parasites like Stanley Cohen, Ron Kuby or that wildebeest, Lynn Stewart, tries to coerce us to alter our civilization, in order to accommodate a bunch of benighted, medieval, cave-dwellers, I think that we should all yell-in unison-that two word phrase that we are all so familiar with by now:

SHOVE IT!

-good times, G.J.P.(Jr.)
