I have never posted an article on Free Republic, but I would guess that nobody reads as many FR articles as I do.
However, after all this time (years!), I know what ZOT!, Vanity, FREEP, and all the other nomenclature with the exception of two: BTTT (I have no clue). Ping! (I know is a way of notifying someone, but I don't know how and who. :o)
This was prompted by the BTTT above. Anybody clue me in?

When I post this reply to you this thread will be bumped back to the top of the latest posts page, thus keeping it visible to people just joining the fray. When I post this reply to you with your name in the "TO" box it will highlight "New posts to you" at the top righthand side of the lastest posts page so you will know that someone has posted a reply to you.
BTTT: Bump To The Top - Each time a post is made on an individual thread its listed at the "top" of "Latest Comments" so the more BTTTs the more likely someone will notice it.
Ping: Simply respond on a thread to anyone and edit the addressee to the person you want to notify regarding the thread - they'll see a new "New Posts to you" notice and clicking on the link they'll see recent posts to them including your Ping - Ping (I think) refers to submariners sending a sound "ping" to estimate the location and distance of a potential target using radar and math skills I once had but can no longer find. Maybe they're in the garage ... ;-)
