An excerpt from Steyn's latest has me suspicious that a slaughter of schoolkids is planned for America soon-maybe before the election.

Could what happened in Beslan happen in the US? Two months ago, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported on a fellow called Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi, a suspected terrorist who'd fought with his fellow jihadi in Chechnya and somehow wound up in Minnesota, where he'd applied for licences to transport hazardous materials and drive school buses.

Now, what if some less suspicious "white-looking" Chechen, or female, or some local recruit(s) starts driving school bus and and shows for work up one day and rigs a bus full of kids with explosives? Background checks can be defeated with enough planning. I doubt the enemy will make the same mistake twice.
We are catching way too many suspects up here in Minneapolis. Wonder if this is happening in your city also?
Ohhhhh, goodness, no!
This would be met at the 'highest' levels with great
'modern' 'wisdom.'
SKERRY would fly in on his broom.
He'd don saffron robes and approach the scene vowing to have a VERY SENSITIVE TEA with the attackers
and singing kum-by-yah.
After the saffron robed 'wise one's' body was shredded by machine gun bullets,
Edwords would approach on his knees kowtowing every 3 feet and promising a MORE SENSITIVE TEA.
He might alternately stand up, shake his fist and swear a trillion dollar suit in the nearest court.
It might take longer for the attackers to shred his body. They might decide to take breaks from their doubled over laughter to horse whip him and toy with him at the end of a rope, first.
And Madelyn Alldumb would wail a eulogy about how unnecessary it all was--if only they'd called her for her fathomless wisdom before attacking, all would have been well.
And Tom Dashdull would circle the site mumbling about how saddened he was by it all.
And Shrillery would circle over the site on her broom pontificating in a loud screechy voice QUOTH THE RABID RAVEN: NEVER MORE, NEVER MORE--ELECT ME AND NEVER MORE! ELECT ME AND WE'LL SELL THEM THE JUST OR BARELY BORN FOR THEIR STABBINGS AND BOMB GAMES. ELECT ME AND WE'LL DESIGNATE SCHOOLS FOR ATTACK TO SAVE THE OTHERS.
And the populace would circle the site screaming--"Yip yip yappy--3 beers for Shrillery!"
And satan would tour the site arm in arm with Jesse Yackson nodding approvingly about how well planned the traumas were. Jesse would promise even more PUSH AND SHOVE the next time.
And chaos would reign supremely (not serenely) over the dark land.
And satan would smile smugly declaring that it was wonderously bad, very bad.
And the scattered good people left in the land would skitter quietly into their hiding places, prayerfully awaiting the RETURN OF THE KING to cleanse the land of it's evil.

We moved from Minneapolis to a lily-white outer suburb this summer. We couldn't stand the schools and their worship at the altar of diversity.
You are correct that Minneapolis has been successfully colonized. The changes that have occurred there over the last 5 years are unbelievable. At minimum, 20,000 Somali and East African immigrants now live there.
Many, as proven by the number of arrests, are not of the 'moderate' muslim persuasion. (Not that I think anyone who believes in the Koran can be called a moderate.

I think you are kidding yourself. The local sherif and cops be be in the way, stopping a rescue until they can do it safely after the perps have run away. They would arrest you for trying to save your kid.

Enough so, I wonder, how could we spark a ground swell to insure exactly that.
But then there's the vetting of those fit to have the guns that someone would have to solve.
Then there's the silencing or overcoming all the idiots paranoid about having a gun anywhere near people, much more so, children.
And then training to insure non fell into the wrong hands.
Challenging.
Sigh.
I think there needs to be a serious program training the larger, more alert and responsible boys and maybe some of the girls--2-3 in each class--in all manner of ways, strategies etc. to survive and handle such situations depending on different contingencies.
You bring up a point that bolsters an idea I keep having...
Ever seen "Big Jake", the John Wayne movie? Kidnappers have his grandson. At one point, the Duke points a shotgun and tells the bad guy, "If anything goes wrong, ANYTHING - my fault, your fault, nobody's fault - I'm gonna blow your head off."
Substitute nukes for the shotgun and Mecca and Medina for the bad guy's head...
This is an excellent idea but will never see the light of day because of the NEA, who have almost all Dem politicians in their pocket.
If the NEA saw its ability to continue herding American children into classrooms and indoctrinating them (out of sight of their parents), they would riot.
That said, we are already doing what you prescribed -- privately. We bought our own computer, and with our own money pay for an online high school curriculum for our son.
The University of Nebraska is just one accredited institution that offers a complete high school curriculum --completely online. (I believe the University of Missouri has one too, although some courses are still done the old-fashioned correspondence way.)
No one seems to be flaming you....
A few days of real serious fear, survivor guilt, they'll have enough problems, even without being in the middle of the Hell the others went through.
Maybe if Johh Kerry is elected - they won't hate us so much anymore....

We would be foolish to believe this wasn't a real possibility. However, it should be comforting to know that your city caught so many.
We aren't going to get back to Kansas for MORE THAN 7 years, that's for sure.
I also think that the Bush administration needs to prepare the populace for the hard choices faced in such a situation. And in the process alert the Jihadi's that we will be very prepared to make those hard choices and more in response.
I replied that our friend, unfortunately, picked the wrong side in this war.
I now completely support using every weapon in our arsenal against the Muslims in general.
So why don't you just kill him now?
