Quite the crowd. 1000's of people turned way after unable to find parking. Reports of people walking 3 miles after unable to get close to the fairgrounds where GW was speaking. Traffic was backed up 4 miles at one point.
Famous last words from article dated 9/5/04 Representatives at the Boone County Republican Headquarters, one of two locations giving out tickets to the event, said Friday evening that 1,000 tickets had already been distributed. However, the tickets are not expected to run out.
I am jealous! Colorado FReeper Bump!
THANKS FOR THE CHANGE
I was thirty feet from him in Lee's Summit. What a thrill.
The planners sure blew the organization and traffic. With that volume, they should have told people to arrive before 1:00.
I'm very glad I didn't get to park in the fairgrounds, it took a long time for them to get out of there. I ended up parking south of the fairgrounds and walked across the highway.
Man, Bush has got the momentum. This guy is moving and talking like a winner. Look at that crowd!
Dims carry St Louis, Kansas City and Columbia (Boone County) withthe help of dead people, dogs, and multiple voting but the rest of the state votes conservative, pro family values, pro everything good. Missosuri should definitely vote W this election.
I'm glad the rallie turned out so well.I was one of those who couldn't get in.
I can say this, who ever set up that venue should have his BUTT KICKED!!!
There was NO where near enough parking availiable.Alot of those people who where there had their car towed off because they no place to park except along side the highway. My son and I probably would have got in,But I didn't want my car towed off! Some people walked as far as 3MILES to get in and I believe it because I saw them walking.I talked to alot of people who where Pissed of at the ones who set this up.
Don't get me wrong I'm still campaining for Bush (going door to door, and phone calling)and not going to stop.
My beef is with the idiots who set up this venue.
"Missouri should definitely vote W this election."
That's the party line...the race is close, a few points apart. Kerry just needs to tweak his message a little, get tough. And of course, the MSM will never tell you about the masses and masses of people who attend Bush's appearances, and the busloads of flunkies (MamaT. provides box lunches), Kerry brings in to sit in the front rows of his appearances...so he's not actually talking to himself.
Bobwade and his wife and her parents got there "real early" and parked in the main lot BUT 45 minutes after we left, he called and said he was almost out of the lot. I told him we were shopping 6 miles away.
Would have been nice to have it at the football stadium, but I hear they have this phobia about empty seats.
I sure hope the local Repubs notified local law enforcment about the number of tickets they handed out. Lots of law enforcement, but most standing around in the fair grounds area a very few helping with traffic.
Sorry you didn't get in. I'm more sorry it was handled badly by Columbia.
Thanks for the correction there, Dad! Whew!!
I teach a class from 12:30-1:45. I had no less than 8 students in a class of about 40 with tickets to see W. I let them all go at once so they wouldn't trickle out. I hope they made it in before the huge lines. I had another several students not in that class that said they'd be going. Admittedly, students in our program are more conservative than the average college student, but I was amazed at how many I knew that were really excited to see W in action.
Seems to be a lot of young folks at this rally. Maybe it just seems so to me because I am so old. lol
We could have used the Capital or the JC Jaycees fairgrounds which has handled a bigger crowd with parking to handeled it.
I didn't get in to see "W" when he came to Indy last year...Seem the Police Chief was a democrat and got the traffic tied up in a quagmire.....Wrote the WH and was sent a very nice letter on official stationary...a nice consolation prize...It's framed with the ticket.
Look at the lengths people will go to to see George W. Bush! We don't need organizers dragging bodies to fill seats!
I had the great thrill of seeing our President, Laura, and the twins on Saturday in Erie, PA. A crowd of 22,000 filled my high school stadium to capacity, plus thousands standing on the field.
I'm a bit sheepish to tell you the stadium is less than a mile from my Dad's house. There is no stadium parking, and neighborhood parking was banned for 12 blocks. Most who attended walked long distances or were bussed in from Park & Ride lots two miles away. We walked over at 10 a.m., went through security around 11:45 and had a perfectly wonderful time just sitting there in anticipation until he arrived around 2:30 p.m.
The crowd started to cheer in waves as those at the top of the stadium spotted the arrival of the campaign bus and word spread. The crowd was really pumped. Many spoke with distress of the terrible beating he has to take from the 'rats, hollywood and the press. I got the feeling that people were there to give him boisterous affirmative support, not just to passively witness a President's visit. He mentioned Zell Miller and the crowd went nuts!
I'm sure the President's speech was similar to what you heard in Missouri. The crowd was rowdy on just about every line. I had my pictures put on CD's. If someone can tell me how to post, I'll give it a try.
btw, Erie is a democrat city in a state that went for Gore.
I'm sure MO will go for Bush. Sure hope PA does, too!
