ACTION ALERT ** ACTION ALERT ** ACTION ALERT
Congress returned from its summer recess today. The so-called "assault weapon" and full-capacity magazine bans sunset (expire) at midnight on Monday, 13 September, 2004. Our "window of risk" is extremely narrow, BUT IT STILL EXISTS.
The Brady Campaign, the Violence Policy Center and other gun control groups are promoting a Call the President campaign on Thursday, 9 September to push for extension and/or expansion of the bans.
NOW IS THE TIME to call, e-mail, fax or write your elected officials (Representative and Senators and President Bush) and urge them to resist such a move. Two separate federally-funded studies have shown that the ban has had no effect on crime rates.
Additional points worth making about the "ban" may be found at

ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT AN EXTENSION OF THE A/W BAN. NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT.
I made my calls this morning!
Call 'em all - call 'em often
He's sure to be getting flooded with calls for his insistance that the issue is D.O.A.
Re-instating the ban won't win Kerry any new votes, but it can lose lots of votes for the President.
Are we getting close enough to sunset to consider the idea of a thread next Monday night to celebrate the countdown and sunset on a banglist thread? (9PM Pacific, midnight Eastern)
I'd say early Monday we definately need an AWB funeral thread, providing things go well this week.
Been there, done that (two days ago). ;-)
SIX DAYS?!?!
YEEEHAAAWWWW!!!!!
*sorry. Dean moment there*
I am sure George will get right on it ... as soon as it gets out of the House.
I'll call, but somehow I don't think Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer will care very much about my thoughts on the matter. I run into the same thing instate with my assembly member and state senator. They both vote 100% anti gun and frequently sponsor the legislation I call and ask them to oppose. But I call and fax anyway.
will be calling first thing in the AM.
Stay safe Joe !
MEGA BUMP
I think it'll die.
If anyone thinks Chucky & Crusty will change their minds, forgetaboutit!
Tom Delay will keep this off the floor forever!
If the Dems want to try and make hay with this, let them have at it! They will only get the votes they already have and quite possibly lose some to the more conservative minded among them. They are shootin spitballs!
Any recomendations on what would make a good first buy once the ban dies?
I've been eyeing an AR-15 (Not banned) just something close to what I shoot in the military.
Comments and recomendations are welcome.
Your "wonderful" Senators are exactly the ones who need to be gang-called! If every person in the state of NY who is pro 2A (and there are probably at least a million of 'em) would start calling them, perhaps they would get the idea that their seats aren't going to be a shoo-in in their next elections.
bumpity bump.
Am I going to see you in DC next month for the SAF conference?
Will take care of this ASAP!!!
