Acts taint Islam image

Ahmed Bahgat, an Egyptian Islamist and columnist for Egypt's leading pro-government newspaper, Al-Ahram, wrote that the images "showed Muslims as monsters who are fed by the blood of children and the pain of their families."

"If all the enemies of Islam united together and decided to harm it ... they wouldn't have ruined and harmed its image as much as the sons of Islam have done by their stupidity, miscalculations and misunderstanding of the nature of this age," he wrote.

Other Islamists were more cautious, and Ali Abdullah, an ultraconservative Bahraini religious scholar, condemned the school attack as "un-Islamic" but insisted Israelis - not Muslims - were behind it and wanted to "tarnish the image of Muslims."

The title presumes that Islam had a favorable image to taint. Not from where I stand. It might have been more accurate to say, "Acts confirm Islam image."

What a challenge that was. I read it, thought about what I'd like to say, and decided not to share my thoughts about Islam/Muslims. 8-) I like posting here. LOL

Newsday must have gotten into Bill Clinton's stash.

Islam is EXACTLY what was shown in Russia. The radicals are being pushed out of the wordword. Just because a cornered rat will fight back does not mean you do not eradicate the rodent. It must be cornered then "squished".

The arab press is proclaiming this as proof of the resolve of islam. This is for the english reading SUCKERS.

All of this sounds like they're more concerned about their image than about what their Islamic 'brothers' have done to innocent children and civilians. It's the bad PR that bothers them, not the slaughters.

No kidding, the tainting of the culture/religion is done itself by the koran. People just following its commands don't really surprise me.

"Most perpetrators of suicide operations in buses, schools and residential buildings around the world for the past 10 years have been Muslims," he wrote. Muslims will be unable to cleanse their image unless "we admit the scandalous facts."

While it's certainly true that only a minority of Muslims are terrorists, the question that keeps coming to mind is 'What is it about Islam that creates these terrorists in so much greater proportion that any other major religion?'

I also can't help but liken Islam in general to Communism (the theory, not necessarily the practice). There seem to be so many similarities, but maybe I just misunderstand both of them.

Taint? TAINT????? They have got to be kidding. Slaughtering hundreds of small children does far more that taint Islam. If the Muslims of the world want to reclaim their religion, they need to be going after the Imams who are preaching this kind of hatred and issuing fatwahs that condone it.

It will take forever to just go after these "holy" warriors, we need to go after those who are manufacturing them in mosques everyday.
