CNN has a JUST IN banner up announcing the 1,000th death in Iraq.
Over 500 died in Labor Day weekend traffic deaths - according to the National Safety Council
More opinion pushing. The public would have never noticed this any more than any other number of deaths if the press hadn't made such a big deal of it in advance. This is classic leftist propaganda.
Normally, I would take a comment like this as hyperbole. But, in reality, it would not be the first time he celebrated nor benefited from the loss of American servicemen.

On Monday, 11 U.S. troops -- four soldiers and seven Marines -- lost their lives in Iraq in five combat incidents, U.S military officials said.
According to Pentagon and U.S. Central Command data, 753 of those 999 deaths were in combat, and the others involved "nonhostile" incidents, such as traffic accidents.Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld noted the approaching milestone Tuesday but indicated that the number should be placed in a larger context.
"Soon, the American forces are likely to suffer the 1000th casualty at the hands of terrorists and extremists in Iraq. When combined with U.S. losses in other theaters in the global war on terror, we have lost well more than 1,000 already," Rumsfeld said.
Just to put in historical perspective, it is fewer than the number of MARINES we lost taking Iwo Jima. One island, in one part of one theater of one front of a war.
I tuned in Limbaugh at noon. The CC station carriess CNN radio news. I swear I could almost hear the anticipation
in reporting the 999th death.
The president has had months to prepare for this event which we've all known would come. The media and Dims have telegraphed their intentions to attack the administration on it. His address honoring their service should already be written and he should deliver it this week - the sooner the better.
Bush has already said that we will honor their memory by continuing to fight for freedom.
He phrased it better than I just did, but I have to admit, I thought he hit just the right tone.

Why shouldn't they? It's not some secret that should be tucked away. Good men and women died; to pretend otherwise is almost an insult to their memories (I'm not implying that you are wanting to ignore their deaths, just others seem like they don't want to hear or know about it).
The sad thing is, outside of hitting these grim "milestones", the media and many Americans don't care that people are dying over there everyday, both because of short attention spans and because they consider who is winning what reality show or what celebrity is sleeping with what celebrity to be more important.
One death statistic that did shock me, the number of Iraqi police who have been killed over the last year or so - around 700. If that doesn't show the nature of our enemies, I don't know what will. They are killing the very people who would help protect their future democracy.
It is my opinion that those thousand brave men and women are giving their lives so that we might live in freedom.
But it sounds as though CNN is trying to make it seem as though they are dying for nothing.While they may be doing it for political reasons, in my view they are spitting on the graves of those who give them their freedom to broadcast such trash.
I'm so pissed off at them i can't even think.

They have been planning on using the death of the 1000th soldier in Iraq for political purposes for months. I'll bet that within 24 hours of the terribel event Kerry will have mentioned it in one of his many daily Bush bashes.

The reporter could barely contain the glee in his voice when announcing the 1,000th soldier had been killed. He then immediately went to a "Kerry spokesman" for "reaction from the Kerry camp". Geesh... I don't know nor care what the reaction was from the Kerry camp. I shut the radio off immediately.
They already have, along with every other news outlet in the country and around the world. Why hell, even Don Rumsfeld has spoken about it today in a briefing.
I don't see it on the front page of CNN, but i have posted picks of a couple of other outlets that has it on their front page.
At the present Fox News has it buried down in the middle of another story.
Another milestone reached for them. What next 1500 or 2000?
