A censure from Washington on the attack in the Gaza Strip last night arrived. The American Secretary of State, Collin Powell, said in a first response to the operation: "revenge is not a solution." This has been the worse response coming from the American goverment regarding IDF operations in the territories.
A day after the IDF operations, where 14 Hamas terrorists were killed, the Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, denied that this was a revenge operation for the terror attack in Beer-Sheva. "We are working against terrorism coming from the outside and unfortunatly from the inside," he said at a ceremony for the holiday with Likud activists in Jerusalem.
But Powell was not persuaded. In a press conference in Washington the American Secretary of State said: "I don't think that those (Israeli response operations) help much. The situation is tragic." In his words, the Israeli IDF responses "do not bring forward any solution to the problems in the region that we are facing."
On the Palestinians, Powell said that they should follow President Bush's roadmap. Sadly, he said, the Palestinian leadership has not taken over the armed groups yet.

I think the writer needs a little education -- first with grammar. Maybe worse should have been "worst."
And then I think the US should shut our big fat trap and let Israel do what they need to do. I wish we were as fearless of what other people thought of us as the IDF is. Vaya con Dios!
It's me translating the piece. Sorry for the error. That is how I believed I could translate that sentence to English. Should have added to it in English. Like "this has been one of the more worsened responses coming from the US, etc. etc......
Whoops! LOL!! Ok - the original writer is forgiven. Now YOU!!!! He he he!! It always amazes me when people know two languages well enough to translate -- kudos. But as for the rest of my comment -- Powell is an idiot if he truly believes what came out of his mouth....
Secretary Bowell IS stupid. Apparently, the murder of over 16 Israelis by Hamas terrorists in Beersheba is NOT an act to which Israel should respond. What is America doing in Iraq if not executing "revenge" operations? The Russians get it as well as the Israelis, but when comes to understanding how to win the War On Terror, Bowell is out of his depth.
Personally I hold Powell and his "Peace" department responsible for us not finishing Gulf War I. I often wonder if this POS (Powell), was told to go pound sand, by the first President, would 9/11 have happened.

How about this for a statement, " if you don't want to be killed, stop committing acts of terror."

Powell is Bush's contact with the "lets all be friends" left side of this country. Sadly, the terrorists still have the upper hand in the territories, and as long as they do, Israel should pound them into the sand. Most of us wonder how Israel can take so much and not provide the terrorists with punishment beyond prejudice. It is coming to that, and if the terrorists ever appear to begin to follow the road map, it will be another trick to encourage the West to let down their guard again. Powell is a spokesman for the continuation of terror and he should know better.
Revenge is not the solution - only because it is inadequate.
