From the Associated Press article:
In West Virginia, Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America, gave Kerry a rifle as a gift. Kerry, a self-described gun-owner and hunter, quipped: "I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me."

I mention a while back about a dream I had. GWinner and skerry were at the debates. Bush in his usual calm steady manner kept coming back at skerry making him look like the fool he is. Skerry got so po'd he came across the stage and took a swing at GWinner. Bush ducked and then landed a RIGHT hook on skerry's massive chin.Knocking him on his ass. Then the Secret Service jumped on Skerry and handcuffed him, leading him off the stage.
Now my question is: Was it a dream or a premonition.

Joking about shooting the President is not acceptable. Absolutely correct.

"You have to speak up they're going to run you right over and make you look like idiots," Katie Simenson, 41, told vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) in Oak Creek, Wis. Uh. NO. It isn't that they look LIKE idiots. And unfortunately for Kerry/Edwards, the more they talk, the more voters get this very impression.

I say lighten up, people. Sheesh. I hate Kerry too, but big deal that he made a joke.Well, there was a guy at an airport a couple of years ago talking to his friend about a party he went to; and he said, "I got bombed." Security hauled him away.

Kerry, looking at the gun after receiving it, probably is thinking something like "This isn't top-of-the-line. My wife always buys me the BEST of everything."

I posted the following on this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1209249/posts ("KERRY COSPONSORED BILL BANNING GUN HE WAVES! (Dukakis Moment?)").
"I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me," Kerry told a cheering crowd as he held up the device.
The way I read it, that comes this close to saying he would like to shoot the sitting president. Given how seriously perceived threats against a current president are taken, plus Kerry's knowledge and status as a US Senator, a public figure speaking to millions via the airwaves, at best his comment is extremely irresponsible. At worst ... well, we can figure it out.

The noise from the democrats is degenerating more and more into the squalling incoherent babble of angry puberts. Mustn't give them the car keys, no matter how they beg and scream and threaten.

ANY joke about shooting ANY president is not funny. As much as I despise the fool Kerry I would consider a similar joke directed at him just as wrong.
That the MSM could ignore the mindset behind a comment like that just reinforces my outrage and disgust. You can be certain any such comment coming from President Bush would have been taken seriously and not considered a "joke".

And what dogs aren't barking about gun violence - or gun "safety," for the congenitally nuanced - when JF-in'K poses (the operative word) in public with a firearm to try and green the "sportsmen?"
Yep.
Those dogs.

And from the same article...
Democrats, who have fretted over Bush's rise in the polls after last week's Republican convention, got some unsolicited advice from supporters in Wisconsin.
"You have to speak up they're going to run you right over and make you look like idiots," Katie Simenson, 41, told vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) in Oak Creek, Wis.
"We're going to make sure the American people know the truth," Edwards reassured. "You watch what happens between now and Election Day and see if I keep my word to you."
That's from Edwards, the trial lawyer.....
