BESLAN SUSPECT PARADED
Sky News ^ | September 6, 2004 | Sky News staff

Posted on 09/06/2004 3:18:30 AM PDT by Stoat

Russian soldiers have paraded on TV a man they say is one of the Beslan hostage-takers as the nation begins two days of mourning.

The soldiers, their faces hidden by balaclavas, manhandled the handcuffed suspect for the cameras.

"I did not shoot," the suspect pleaded. "I swear by Allah I want to live."

The appearance came as Beslan began burying the 323 victims of Friday's massacre.

The total number of dead - 156 of which are children - is expected to rise further.

Around 400 people are still receiving medical treatment.

Some of the injured have yet to be identified and their photographs are being circulated to help family members track them down.

The situation in Beslan remains tense.

Grief beyond bearing

Security officials have closed the nearby border with Chechnya and have placed a cordon around the town to stop revenge attacks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to reform the country's security services after the bloody end to the siege.

Mr Putin admitted the country was not ready to deal with the threat from militants - believed to be Muslim separatists, including Arab mercenaries.

He confirmed he would authorise more funding for security forces and border controls.

The kidnappers had demanded Russian troops withdraw from Chechnya in return for the safe release of the hostages.

Relatives of the deceased have been allowed to enter the burned out shell of the school gymnasium where 1,000 people were held for 62 hours.

My hope is that the Russian people will turn their grief into a focused rage, dedicated to the elimination of all terrorists.

Any supposed argument that the Chechens had for their cause disappeared with this horrific event.

This is from the brave soul who makes war on children. What a disgusting, piece of vermin.

The entire incident is well nigh indescribable. Words don't exist to express the level of rage and grief and hopeless these families must feel. You don't think about anything else. It consumes you night and day...when you let yourself feel anything. Absolutely devastating. It alters everything for Russia and Muslim terrorists. For the US, as well.

Poetic justice.

The 1st FReeper that comes off with the "folks shouldn't lower themselves to the terrorist's level" CRAP can go to the place with the man in the asbestos suit.

They fear the Russians and plead like babies.

They rhetorically spit in our face because they know we are impotent. The sleeping giant has become the paper tiger.

Well, Lurch? Should the Russians be "Sensative" to this piece of excrement or not?

I have the perfect punishment. Turn him over to the parents and play it live on TV.

This weasel is lying through his crooked teeth.

The mass murder of children was scupulously planned, in classic al Queda style, for many months ahead. Chechens worked at the school and weapon caches were hidden weeks before. The Arab al Queda officers arrived from Pakistan, Yemen, and/or Saudi Arabia to direct and lead the assault.

Here's some more on this story from the Times of India

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/840717.cms

MOSCOW: One of the suspects arrested after the Beslan school siege in Russia's northern Caucasus is due to be charged with "personal participation" in the attack, Russia's deputy prosecutor general said.

The suspect, whose name and nationality were not revealed, was shown on Russia's state TV channel. His hands handcuffed behind his back, the frightened-looking man was shown being led by two hooded commandoes into a room.

Asked by a state TV reporter whether he felt sorry for the child hostages, the man replied: "I swear by Allah, I did feel sorry for them. I have got children too."

Asked whether he fired his weapon, he said, "I swear by Allah I did not shoot, I swear I did not shoot," in a strongly-accented Russian

But later, pressed by his interviewer, he became less coherent before saying: "In general, I did not want to die anywhere. I do not want to die anywhere."

The suspect had reportedly shaved off his beard and tried to escape with the fleeing hostages when the siege collapsed on Friday.

"This man personally took part in the attack, he was part of that gang, he took part in shooting. Today he will be charged," Sergei Fridinsky said in comments broadcast by Russia's Channel One television.

"They will all be punished for all the crimes they committed, and this man among others," Fridinsky added.

Russian authorities announced on Sunday that three suspects, including a woman, were arrested, without making immediately clear whether the arrested participated personally in the attack that killed at least 335 people.

I believe the US is only one "Beslan" away from a massive anti-muslim action.

If something like this were to happen in the US we could very well see internment camps for muslims in this country.

The camel is fully loaded....

Maybe they should but him in a hot gym, with no ventalation, without any food and water and the first time he begs for water, give him the bayonet like they did the ten-year-old boy that asked for water.

The Russians should look at how the Soviet's responded when a Soviet agent was kidnapped in Lebanon. For those of you who don't know what happened, let's just say, the terrorists released the hostage and no other Russians were ever kidnaped.

This vile young man is at the bottom of the food chain. At the top are the Saudis, charities in our own country that take our tax money and launder the money in many devious ways, the insane Mullahs who protect their own children, while brainwashing other people's children into being demented psychopaths...

Not that it exonerates the hostage takers in any way, but it seems the liberation attempt was pretty chaotic. I mean, using a firing TANK in a commando action to liberate hostages ?

If this is intended to make me feel sorry for the terrorist, it's not working...

The Russians have a way with these situations.
