Bush's National Guard File Missing Records
20 minutes ago
By MATT KELLEY, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Documents that should have been written to explain gaps in President Bush (news - web sites)'s Texas Air National Guard service are missing from the military records released about his service in 1972 and 1973, according to regulations and outside experts.

I bet if my Army Reserve records were to suddenly undergo this much scrutiny, they would find that my records are incomplete too.
A complete non-story.
This is an AP story - it has NO veracity!
This is not a story! It is Democrats, trying to deflect from their pitiful record on defense. Bush is not making this a campaign issue nor is he running on this. It would be so nice if the media spent this much time and effort on Kerry too.
Tell me when Bush ever bragged about his National Guard service and made his service the reason he should elected.
Those records have been found and released OVER A MONTH AGO.

Pentagon Finds, Releases Bush's 1972 Guard Payroll Records
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/news/072404_nw_bush_records.html
WASHINGTON Newly discovered payroll records from President Bush's 1972 service in the Alabama National Guard shed no new light on the future president's activities during that summer.
A Pentagon official said Friday the earlier contention that the records were destroyed was an "inadvertent oversight."
Like records disclosed earlier by the White House, the newly released computerized payroll records show no indication Bush drilled with the Alabama unit during July, August and September of 1972. Pay records covering all of 1972, released previously, also indicated no guard service for Bush during those three months.

AND WHERE ARE KERRY'S MILITARY RECORDS?
Why isn't the media demanding that Kerry sign the 180 to release his records????
Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John F. Kerry reported $395,338 in income last year and paid $90,575 in taxes. His wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, heiress to the Heinz food company fortune, reported income of $5.1 million last year and paid $587,000 in taxes.
Bush last year reported income of $822,000, on which he paid 28 percent in federal taxes.

But then there were substantial donations to charity by the poodle - at least $200 if I remember correctly! LOL
If YOU want to make an impact instead of just preaching to the choir here in FR, I suggest that you put some action into your words and write to your local Editor.
Letter to the Editor,
Ventura County Star:
On 1 July 1972 Kerry was transferred into the Standby Reserve (Inactive) and then received his Honorable Discharge on 16 Feb 1978 according to Kerrys website.
Kerry met with the Vietnamese Communists in Paris, per his own testimony, while still being a member of the Naval Reserves. He returned and advocated acceptance of the Communists' negotiating points. Kerry also participated in the Vietnam Veterans Against the War as its National Officer and was involved in the infamous Kansas City meeting where discussions were held about assassinating United States Government officials, according to recently released FBI records.
The question is whether Kerry was violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice or Federal Statute by being involved in these activities while still serving in the Navy Reserves. What is most curious is that on Kerry's initial website a few months ago, was the fact that he listed his military service as 1966-1970-Active Duty and 1972-78-Reserves. He conveniently left a gap between 1970-72, which he may have done intentionally so as not to raise questions.
Currently, his service timeline on his website no longer includes his Reserve Service. Curiously, it ends with the following: April 29, 1970 Kerry listed as Registrant who has completed service. This could be a smokescreen to inoculate Kerry from charges that he was giving aid and comfort to the enemy while still being a member of the Navy Reserves.
Kerry continues to refuse to sign Government Form 180 releasing his military records to the public. It would be nice to have a look at Kerry's military records before Election Day. After all, Kerry has made his military service the centerpoint of his campaign for the Presidency.

My understanding is that his status allowed him to protest the war because he was not "active" in the Reserves.
Some of the fine folks over at DU seem to think this will kill W.
He was not active in the Reserves. In Bush's case, that is called "AWOL". Maybe the same holds true for Kerry.
The D must stand for Delusional, since i have never seen a more delusional set of people.
Anyone that thinks government records validate the truthfulness or accuracy of any point fail to remember that they are referring to the same government that regularly sends social security checks to dogs and tax forms to horses.
Quick! Where's the Lysol?
