THE full horror of the Russian school atrocity began to emerge yesterday as traumatised children told horrific tales of stabbed babies and brutal rapes.
It has also emerged that scores of the 323 who died - including many children - had been shot in the back.
While despairing soldiers and rescue workers moved among the growing pile of body bags, it was revealed that an 18-month-old baby had been repeatedly stabbed by a black-clad terrorist who had run out of ammunition.
Other survivors told how screaming teenage girls were dragged into rooms adjoining the gymnasium where they were being held and raped by their Chechen captors who chillingly made a video film of their appalling exploits
They said children were forced to drink their own urine and eat the petals off the flowers they had brought their teachers after nearly three days without food or water in the stifling hot gym.
Their stories came as Russian officials warned that the final death toll of the siege of Middle School No 1 at Beslan in North Ossetia - in which up to 1,200 people were held captive - was likely to be more than 400.
The official toll yesterday stood at 323 which included 156 children, 10 Russian soldiers and two emergency service workers - 35 of the hostage-takers were also killed. Last night 434 people were being treated in hospital with 247 children and 85 adults in a critical condition.
A Russian official said six seriously injured children had been taken to Moscow for treatment.
"One of them is a child, just 18 months old, with many knife wounds," he said.

You're talking out both sides of your butt again. I have not demonized everyone. I have pointed out that the actual terrorists, muslims, are demons. You have demonized Chechyns by claiming they, and not the muslims, are the ones who carried out the terrorist attack this weekend. You have demonized the Russian government by claiming they are responsible for the acts of the terrorists. Don't twist it around by claiming that I have lumped the terrorists in with innocent civilians. You are the one who has done that.

See lower table, 3rd column-town Beslan. Add Ingush-Chechen+Kabardin+Other Nationalities (this stands for representatives of small mountain tribes which all are Muslim.)
The school is a NORMAL state school-#1 school by name-not a religious one.

I'm not demonizing Russian, and especially Russian Federal, government for anything. I just state that local government, and MAY BE the Central Government, have maid some mistakes while solving hostage crisis. That's it. And that's why they ARE responsible in some way-like a general is responsible for the lives of his soldiers when he makes a mistake.
I am not demonizing Chechens. No need to. THEY do it much better.
AND I can not concider ALL the Muslims as terrorists. Their religion could be wrong, but there is a lot of wrong religions to my Orthodox Christian mind.

And what do you think they did wrong that makes them responsible for this catastrophe? Should they have stormed the building immediately, while there was still a possibility of resolving it with less violence? Should they have caved in to the muslims' demands? Should they have stood back and done nothing while the muslims were setting off bombs and shooting children in the back? They did the best anyone could have possibly done. If they had screwed up, the casualty count would been even higher. Quit trying to take the blame off the muslim terrorists and pin it on the victims and rescuers.

Not necessarily. He doesn't seem to know much else. Why would he know that.
I explained above what was done wrong:
1. Storm troops were almost dismissed from operation planning-citizen authirities were in charge, which is wrong in conditions like this.
2. School area was owercrowded with local population-I can understand why those people wanted to be there, by they impeded the troops-ask Israelis, do they allow locals to interfere in military operations.
3. Mass media was not isolated (but it was much a source of information for terrorists, than 2 years ago in Nord-Ost, anyway, thank God.
But the troops themselves really did their best. 10 of elite antiterror squads officers died, covering children with their bodies. Fnd 17 or even more troops from other squads also lost their lives like heroes.

Your posts are very interesting. I was under the impression that the USSR was an atheist state. Were the muslims able to practice their religion before the fall of communism? I do recall that the Russian Jews could not and I would find it quite interesting if the islamist could.
I am a Christian, and I know where you are trying to go, but it rings hallow in the face of 150 dead children shot in the back, some after enduring 50 hours of torture. And where is the Islamic world? Are they taking to the streets in protest? Are they demanding the UN step in? Of course not. THey are complicently SILENT.
