THE full horror of the Russian school atrocity began to emerge yesterday as traumatised children told horrific tales of stabbed babies and brutal rapes.
It has also emerged that scores of the 323 who died - including many children - had been shot in the back.
While despairing soldiers and rescue workers moved among the growing pile of body bags, it was revealed that an 18-month-old baby had been repeatedly stabbed by a black-clad terrorist who had run out of ammunition.
Other survivors told how screaming teenage girls were dragged into rooms adjoining the gymnasium where they were being held and raped by their Chechen captors who chillingly made a video film of their appalling exploits
They said children were forced to drink their own urine and eat the petals off the flowers they had brought their teachers after nearly three days without food or water in the stifling hot gym.
Their stories came as Russian officials warned that the final death toll of the siege of Middle School No 1 at Beslan in North Ossetia - in which up to 1,200 people were held captive - was likely to be more than 400.
The official toll yesterday stood at 323 which included 156 children, 10 Russian soldiers and two emergency service workers - 35 of the hostage-takers were also killed. Last night 434 people were being treated in hospital with 247 children and 85 adults in a critical condition.
A Russian official said six seriously injured children had been taken to Moscow for treatment.
"One of them is a child, just 18 months old, with many knife wounds," he said.

Yes sure, I do not know the Christian way. You do. That's what I like in people-instant making a decision - is one a REAL Christian or not. Let me ask you, what is your religion? I'm Orthodox Christian, as well as my parents and their parents, but my choice of religion was made not because of that, but because I adopted Christianity by my heart. And Christian is not the one, who want to kill all the muslims. It's the one, who wants them to love Christ. Ask your priest, if you don't believe me.

There has been an influx of Artydomb's lately. Don't let anyone be fooled. Christianity is the one of the few things, if not the only thing standing in the way of Muslim domination. These folks are coming here and trying to give a WWJD crisis of conscience knowing how well that worked for liberals to get to where they have today. You have the right attitude silversky in telling this person they know not of what they speak. Muslims would use the HOLY Bible against its believers to creat a crisis of conscience, like I noted above, and while we sit indecisive and wringing our hands they'll be making their plans to get into our schools and murder and rape our children. I won't have it. I know what my Bible says. God encouraged his people to war many times--there are just wars--some of those were even offensive, which this war we wage with a culture that would destroy us is not--it is totally defensive. If I am wrong, God forgive me, but I won't stand by and watch children be slaughtered.

OK. Explanation. Wahhabism is not Islam. As well as some so-called Christian sects are not Christian at all. That's one. There are Nazis in Islamic world, but remember the history? Versaille Peace Treaty was the reason Nazis in Germany came to power. Russians remember it too well... We should exterminete Nazi-like leaders but save the people. And I do not want to BEG them to change. I want them to see the real Christianity-not the horrifying mask they are show with in their mosques.
Wetern Values and European Values sound pretty different to me. It might be a socialist legacy but I understand Mozart and Britney Spears to be much more distant from each other than even church and mosque.
And about mess in my head-please do not worry. It's in total order. Yes, there are some argues in Christian and even Orthodox churches (by the way, what's your opinion over reunification Russian Orthodox Church with Russian Orthodox Church abroad?), but it's normal - it's living discussion.
