THE full horror of the Russian school atrocity began to emerge yesterday as traumatised children told horrific tales of stabbed babies and brutal rapes.
It has also emerged that scores of the 323 who died - including many children - had been shot in the back.
While despairing soldiers and rescue workers moved among the growing pile of body bags, it was revealed that an 18-month-old baby had been repeatedly stabbed by a black-clad terrorist who had run out of ammunition.
Other survivors told how screaming teenage girls were dragged into rooms adjoining the gymnasium where they were being held and raped by their Chechen captors who chillingly made a video film of their appalling exploits
They said children were forced to drink their own urine and eat the petals off the flowers they had brought their teachers after nearly three days without food or water in the stifling hot gym.
Their stories came as Russian officials warned that the final death toll of the siege of Middle School No 1 at Beslan in North Ossetia - in which up to 1,200 people were held captive - was likely to be more than 400.
The official toll yesterday stood at 323 which included 156 children, 10 Russian soldiers and two emergency service workers - 35 of the hostage-takers were also killed. Last night 434 people were being treated in hospital with 247 children and 85 adults in a critical condition.
A Russian official said six seriously injured children had been taken to Moscow for treatment.
"One of them is a child, just 18 months old, with many knife wounds," he said.

O Lord, save Your people,
And bless Your inheritance.
Grant victories to the Orthodox Christians
Over their adversaries.
And by virtue of Your Cross,
Preserve Your habitation.
Apparently those with the video camera weren't planning on martyrdom.
Michael Savage made that same argument with a liberal caller the other day, only about the SouthWest and the La Raza and Aztlan issue.
Savage's statement to this guy that was saying that Russia should just stay out of Chechnya was that if Mexicans claimed our SouthWest should we just give it to them?
You are completely correct in your second sentence but unfortunately the muzlims believe where ever they set foot is their land and anyone in it must convert or be killed.
Of course at first they are very tolerant as they replace the Churches with Mosques (like in England and other areas of Europe) then when they get enough numbers they start their program.
In France it is head scarves. Incrementalizm.
Chechnya is historically part of Russia.
In short, they'd get *WACO'd*, wouldn't they?
(((sigh)))
What is wrong with the world?
"Not to mention the damn hurricane. If I have to see another moron newsman standing in the rain talking about the SOS I will puke."
I was beginning to wonder if I was insensitive. I realize that the hurricane is an important story, but EVERY time I've turned on FOX the past several days, the story has been the damned hurricane.
Especially as an Evangelical Orthodox Lutheran, if I merely change "Orthodox" to "orthodox", it applies to me as well. I hope that it then applies to you, too.
It's not just you. If you have the time to read through this long thread, you'll see that's the prevailing sentiment. I have relatives in Florida, so I'm interested in an occasional update, but there really is bigger news. As someone else elequently pointed out, hurricane season happens every year like clockwork. If you don't have time to read this whole thread, you must read post #426. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1208007/posts?page=426#426
I just heard Pat Benator singing "Hell is for Childen" and I thought how horribly true this can be.
Immediately send every last one of them to Allah.

"I, for one, am more disturbed about what occurred in Russia last week than I can recall being upset about anything since 9/11/01. And its not just the terrorism, but the international media coverage of it."
Thank you for referring me to these remarks. I too, have not felt this disturbed about an event since 9/ll.
As I stood in my kitchen today preparing dinner, I listened to a FOX news reporter interviewing someone in Florida about losing his or her home and personal belongings. While I do not wish to minimize the impact this sort of loss may have on someone's life, or future, it pales in comparison to having watched your child, or the children of others, terrorized, tortured and murdered. I don't understand how this barbaric act of terrorism can be so easily shrugged off by the media...even FOX is devoting little attention to it, IMO.
I haven't looked at the tv since this morning. (Well, I glanced at when I walked in the room to talk to hubby and he was watching cartoons.) I couldn't stand the contant weather report. They might be showing news by now for all I know, but I'm not going to check.
Well at least we know who their partners are. Execute them publicly.
Joanie, this is a very well written piece. Thank you - it is astonishing that the American people are kept so much in the dark by the mass media. If they would just reach out to a few other news sources they could have a better chance at hearing the truth.
Lives so seldom go as planned. They have truly given themselves over to evil, there are no other words for it.
