The bloody siege of a Russian school by Chechen rebels brought widespread condemnation and soul-searching in the Islamic world yesterday.Arab newspapers and television broadcasts were full of dramatic photographs of the children killed and injured in the siege by Islamic rebels demanding Chechen independence from Russia. Commentators and clerics put a harsh spotlight on those who kill and maim in Islam's name.
"What is the guilt of those children? Why should they be responsible for your conflict with the government?" Egypt's top Muslim cleric, Grand Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, asked during a sermon in Banha, 30 miles north of Cairo.
"You are taking Islam as a cover and it is a deceptive cover. Those who carry out the kidnappings are criminals, not Muslims," said Tantawi, according to Egypt's Middle East News agency.
Yesterday's headline over the daily column by Abdulrahman Al-Rashed in the pan-Arab Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper was "The Painful Truth: All the World Terrorists Are Muslims!"
The column by Al-Rashed, general manager of Al-Arabiya television, listed recent attacks by Islamic extremist groups in Russia, Iraq, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, many influenced by Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
"Our terrorist sons are an end product of our corrupted culture," said the columnist, noting that "most perpetrators of suicide operations in buses, schools and residential buildings around the world for the past 10 years have been Muslims."
Al-Rashed called on Muslims to "admit the scandalous facts" instead of rationalizing them.
The Chechen hostage-takers sullied Islam's image, wrote the Egyptian Islamist Ahmed Bahgat in his column in Egypt's leading pro-government newspaper, Al-Ahram.
"If all the enemies of Islam united together and decided to harm it ... they wouldn't have ruined and harmed its image as much as the sons of Islam have done by their stupidity, miscalculations and misunderstanding of the nature of this age," Bahgat wrote.

I was agreeing with you in reality. The IRA are very regional. They came to mind because I lived in Ireland a couple of years with an American company.
Know your enemy. You can download MP3s of Craig Winn's book Prophet of Doom at conservativeimage.com if you don't have time to read. This stuff isn't so hard to understand. Don't forget about the two Muslim clerics arrested in our own Albany, New York last month.
This from the Telegraph article: In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Mr Mohammed said: "If an Iraqi Muslim carried out an attack like that in Britain, it would be justified because Britain has carried out acts of terrorism in Iraq. "As long as the Iraqi did not deliberately kill women and children, and they were killed in the crossfire, that would be okay."
Oh..puhleeze......you are technically correct, but such a small percentage are not muslim that it is hardly worth mentioning. The comment "All the World Terrorists Are Muslims" is essentially correct.
I am really beginning to think that the world consensus is slowly turning towards favoring the excision of Mecca.

..but McVeigh & Nichols had Muslim connections via the Philippines. Sorry, we still cannot cut the ties.
Valid point. I hate to break the news to Osama, but if only Russia and the U.S. "unite" against the wacko Islamic Middle East, the Muslims will be playing in the sand without electricity, running water, airplanes, or functioning vehicles of any kind.
Once again...a small percentage of the terrorist. By the way, their was a working relationship between the IRA and the PLO, Hamas, Hezbollah etc. Am I missing something has the IRA been blowing up buildings and killing people in the last year or two?
Talk is cheap. Stopping the homocidal psychopaths created by the mad mullahs of Islam is another thing entirely.
The IRA is still active, still causing some deaths, etc, just very diminished from their past dominance.
Yes, there are some theories that a global government may arise out of the necessity born of terrorism. Islam may provide that necessity by their ongoing acts. Because they act on so many continents and create enemies everywhere.
they have no one to blame but themselves.
Al-Rashed it is too late. You are all gutter scum if you haven't stood up by now
Fat Boy's just out on a babyback-and-beer run. We'll have to check back later.
Hopefully they left for some jihadistan.
Islam has sown the wind; It shall reap the whirlwind.
I don't know about a world government - the differences between cultures is still too vast, even among the developed nations, for that to be practical - but I can easily see a world "shrug" if and when one or several nations finally decide to permanently remove that melanoma and its metastases from the globe.
Putin is going to unleash the wrath of God, make that the wrath of the Godless.... on these stupid bastards. They are going to pay in orders of magnitude. I will cheer with every execution of justice.
