Brig. General Janis Karpinski sets an appalling example for no one to follow. She commanded Abu Gahraib prison in Iraq and awful things happened on her watch. This, in and of itself, didn't make her an absolute failure. It was how she responded, that made her an unrestricted loser.
The time for Janis Karpinski to protect her career was before the abuses took place. She ran the prison, she should have controlled, observed and documented everything that General Fast and General Sanchez did inside the prison.
Instead, she stood aside and was not even on site when many of the prison abuses that the army reported took place their occurred. She abdicated her authority and let outside organizations, in this case MI interrogators, run her AO.
What Karpinski should have done was admit responsibility and resign her command. She should have humbly displayed contrition and left the army. She should have apologized to every American soldier who didn't torture the enemy and then apologized to every Iraqi citizen who ever suffered torture while she was in charge.
This would not have made everything OK again. Nothing does in a case like this. However, it would have shown grace under pressure and salvaged the honor of both Karpinski and the soldiers who served at Abu Gahraib and weren't in the sordid business of toture and sadism.
What Karpinski did instead was allege a conspiracy of silence and a cover up by Generals Sanchez and Fast. The conspiracy of silence should add an additional member, Karpinski. Sanchez and Fast are done for. Their careers are over after this, and I don't hear either one of them whinging. Karpinski's sob stories are pathetic.
The next time she feels like playing the cry baby, she ought to think about how a few of those Iraqi prisoners felt.
Conundrum:
PC Libs couldn't get to Rumsfeld and the administration about Abu Ghraib without taking down General Kapinski, who got her star thanks to the Clinton administration.
"Pathetic. How did this woman ever get promoted to general and put in charge of anything important?"
Come on, now. Are you really that out of touch from the touchy-feely, PC, women can do ANYTHING a man can do, klinton driven military?
The thing about Karpinsky is she wansn't doing her job long before the prisoner abuse occurred. She seldom, if ever, visited the prison. She allowed a total disintegration of ordinary discipline, to the extent that soldiers were not disciplined for failing to salute her and a major general. Indeed, the prisoners who were photographed being abused weren't even suspected terrorists--they were ordinary criminal suspects.
Feminazis in Uniform?
How would this reflect on General Sanchez? He was running an entire war, not one insignificant prison camp. He can't be micromanaging or nothing would get done. Just asking.
My guess is by "servicing" a number of Hitlery and her lesbian friends.
Only the enlisted people were in charge and did the dirty work, they are or will be in prison. Those in official charge will skate. A career is one thing, years of hard time is quite another.
Sanchez may have been a more or less innocent victim. Karpinsky, as others have mentioned, was one of the Clintonista poster-gals for the new, improved, feminist-approved military. She is the model of a political appointee whose top agenda is advancing her own career. What she has done, with the assistance of the shills in the media, is deflect responsibility for Abu Ghraib from herself and pass it up the chain of command. Unfortunately, Sanchez was too accomodating to the whole system of PC, and ended up taking the fall. At least it's starting to look like Karpinsky's career is not going to be salvaged, despite the media's best efforts to do so.
One of President Bush's more serious mistakes was in allowing this gang of political appointees to remain in place during a time of war. The military the last place on earth we need PC, feminist nonsense. Bush needs to clean house or it will happen again. The Abu Ghraib scandal ended up seriously damaging the public's support for the war. I can't help wonder if Karpinsky, whose loyalties are certainly not with Bush, was calculating this in full knowledge of the media frenzy that would result one it came to light that the prison was out of control. The MSM had been waiting for months to find a stick they could use to attack the US military and its commander in chief, the real object of their hatred. Karpinsky left them the stick.

----I immediately thought of an underground comic from about 1970 by Robert Williams; "GORILLA WOMEN OF THE THIRD REICH".
I think it happened during the PC years of Bill Clinton .. does that explain it ..??
Also .. her superiors had already faulted her for LACK OF DISCIPLINE of those in her charge .. such as sloppy dress, and sloppy attitudes of guards .. improper saluting .. disrespect of other officers .. etc.
I think she needs to retire .. permanently!!
