George Jr sent out of Texas by father as a 'drunken liability'(Barf Alert)

This is so reprehensible I had to do some research about this 'newspaper' Although he didn't write this rubbish I discovered a rather familiar name on their payroll. If you've ever wondered what ever happened to Howell Raines you now know the answer. To think the New York Times made somebody that associates with rubbish like this their Executive Editor makes my skin crawl.

It is a good thing we all grow up, my mispent youth was a disaster. Then I got married 44 years ago, and remain with that tried and true love to this day.

I remeber 4 years ago there was "shocking" video of Bush drunk, and it turned out to be a wedding video (you know where the camera goes around the room and people say stupid stuff) and he had, OMG, a drink in his hand.

The drinking demons were already pulled last election. Won't wash this one. They need a new sin.

"Bush used to be a drunk"

So what. Ted Kennedy is still a drunk.

But Bush is sober now, but Kerry is still a communist one world government believer.

Maybe the Dims will finally get the negative ad backlash they've been waiting for-- only Kerry will get it, not Bush.

You're so right! I've had conversations with some rather non-political co-workers this week that confirm this effect. Most people are very sensitive to hypocracy from politicians and this "Bush was a drunk" stuff is like shiite into the fan! Blowback city!

You notice this woman did not tell her story until her husband died. So the man that Bush 41 supposedly spoke to cannot confirm or deny the story. Same with the story about how 43 got in the National Guard...the 'family friend' who supposedly made the request has recently passed away and can no longer deny the story. These stories are merely hearsay. Besides, unlike Kerry, Bush is not running on his Vietnam era record.

The reason GWB's drunken episodes will never be a problem, he's already made them known to the public.

I've often heard him speak of his abuses of alcohol, even when speaking to guys at half-way houses, etc.

Well, Susan Estrich said in her editorial they were going to go after Bush's drinking history -- hard! Is it just me, or is this soooooo far removed from anything near the Swift Boat Vets to be almost pathetically laughable?

Now that you mention it -- I think you're correct. I know I was so shocked to find it was actually a British Newspaper that was trying to tell us what was happening.

This may be annoying but will not change any votes because Bush as a reformed heavy drinker is already well-known and discounted even if the details are obscure. Dragging this up now is the press equivalent of little leaguers heckling a batter: it can be a distraction, but only if the batter lets it affect him.

On the fundamentals, Bush will win or lose based primarily on two things: his performance in office, especially as to jobs and the economy; and whether Kerry is plausible as a better choice. Both of these factors weigh against Kerry.

Tired old news. And isn't it better to have a SOBER person in the White House, than a whiny, wine-soaked liberal?

It is crazy the way the media whip around now trying to throw sleaze at Bush. They've been doing it for four years while he has demonstrated his leadership and kept this nation safe. The nation is just now focusing on the race and it likes this president.

The man is a Christian and in recovery from the bottle. I have nothing but admiration for him.

Let me see if I get this straight

1) George H.W. Bush is ambassador to the U.N.
2) X41 calls up a pal in Alabama, tells his friend that his son is a drunk, and asks him to hire the drunk for his political campaign, nonetheless.
3) Even though x41 is Ambassador to the U.N. in New York, he cares whether 43 is in Texas or Alabama. In Texas, 43 will embarrass Bush. But the states of Louisiana and Mississipi somehow insulate the U.N. ambassador from the U.S. from any embarrassment.
4) And his friend hires 43 for his political campaign, even though he's been told that 43 is a drunk that could embarrass him.

This stupid Kerry-planted story makes no sense.

Has anyone out there read "God and George W. Bush" by Paul Kengor? It came out in August. I've spent the last two Sunday evenings in Barnes and Noble reading it---- I'm on a tight budget and can't buy it--- it's really hard to put down. Great book.
