Just a minute ago, Alan Colmes, supposedly disproving Zell Miller's statement that (paraphrase) "John Kerry would let Paris decide when the US needs defending," played a clip of Kerry's acceptance speech where he said the exact opposite, that he "would never let other nations decide" yadda, yadda, yadda.
Terry Holt then responded with "When JFK was first becoming a political figure, he made the statement that he would turn over our sovereignty to the UN."
Colmes then incredulously shot back that, since Kerry made that statement thirty-five years ago, it was no longer relevant or accurate. A Kerry flackey then repeated that statement, and Hannity's weak substitute for the night made no attempt to rebut.
Does it not seem wrong that John Kerry has based his ENTIRE campaign on his actions thirty-five years ago in Vietnam, and all of his absurd, heroic statements are considered gospel by the MSM, yet a statement he made at the same time is not accurate or applicable, his antics on returning from Vietnam are forgettable, and his treasonous and outrightly false testimony in 1971 were simply "the words of an angry young man" and thus forgivable.
The media is playing directly into the hands of Kerry in this election. John Kerry has so many political skeletons in the closet it's not even funny. Let's go down the list chronologically and see if we can remember anyone in the MSM who has even begun to try and reveal any of them:
- The inconsistencies in his Vietnam record. The overwhelming theme of the Democratic convention was John Kerry's Vietnam service and how that immediately qualifiec him to be commander-in-chief. A good 90% of the rhetoric from the Kerry camp starts out with, "John Kerry is a great hero" or some such BS.
Yet John Kerry refuses to sign Form 180 and release his military records. When the SBVT showed up, presumably to try and spread the real story about Kerry's Vietnam service, they were slandered by the media as "liars" and "bigots" with nothing to disprove them but Kerry's own statements and dubious records distributed by (who else?) his campaign. The Washington Post story attempting to explain the entire mess and uncover the real truth was largely ignored by the MSM (taken in this instance to mean the alphabets and CNN - we know the Post is also a big part of the MSM, but its circulation is significantly less than the national networks). There are much more in-depth accounts of the inconsistencies of Kerry's rhetoric, so let's move on.
- Kerry, upon returning from Vietnam, founded the VVAW, and engaged in numerous protests against the war, including the famous medal-flinging incident. VVAW is known to have committed some fairly egregious anti-American acts, including plotting to assassinate United States Senators and seize the Statue of Liberty. Wouldn't it make sense to be able to hold a founding member of the group responsible for these actions?
Yet not a single story from the MSM revealing Kerry's clearly treasonous actions in his VVAW position.
- Kerry's infamous testimony in front of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations accusing his fellow vets of war crimes has been proven to be a complete fraud. His clearly perjurous testimony can easily be construed as aiding and abetting the enemy, making JFK fully guilty of two high crimes against the country, yet the only attempt at broadcasting this has been by the SBVT. No one in the MSM has even made any reference to Kerry's testimony, except when forced by conservative pundits. Kerry's own camp has stated that his testimony was just the "words of an angry young man" and his way of attempting to end the war, yet Kerry refuses to officially renounce his testimony as false.
- Kerry's record in the Senate is equally devastating. While the "most liberal Senator" bit has been effectively beaten to death, it still applies. In a twenty-year stint, he has failed to sponser a single piece of significant legislation, but his voting record has been consistently pro-abortion, anti-military, pure tax-and-spend liberal. Inconsistencies in his positions are clearly evident, particularly on the Iraq War. Kerry voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq, yet voted against funding the effort (oh, but wait, he did vote for it - just before he voted against it).
Kerry's camp has done its utmost to distance itself from Kerry's Senate record, which, of course, portrays his true political views and shows him to be significantly out of the mainstream. When Zell Miller and the President called Kerry's Senate record into question this week at the RNC, Zell was denounced by almost everyone in the MSM as "an angry, old Democrat" and President Bush was accused of personal attacks on Kerry's character. What? Calling Kerry's publicly available Senate voting record into question has now become a personal attack, yet <A HREF="http://www.creators.com/opinion_show.cfm?columnsName=ses" target="blank>suggesting Dick Cheney is an alcoholic</A> is good politics. <p><p>Karl Rove and company perhaps got a better candidate in John Kerry than we would have had in Howard Dean. There is more than enough material to run ten campaigns in John Kerrys record. <p><p>Yet the mainstream media refuses to do even the slightest bit to uncover any truth in this election, and then they have the nerve to wonder why anyone even considers voting for Bush. The medias egotistical reign over public opinion is coming to an end. Their attempts to promote John Kerry are simply too absurd to be viable.
Comments not only on content but on style and structure are welcome.
I think it's that time of the month for Alan...
Could the moderator fix the HTML in my last paragraph, if you please. Perhaps a more appropriate title could be suggested too ("The Media and Kerry," or something equally bland would be nice). When I started writing I didn't know it would be a full-blown article.
Thanks.
What do you expect from a party who, just twelve years ago, was saying that it was okay to have a draft-dodger as a President? Now, they are referring to the current President and Vice-President as draft-dodgers.
Democrats sell out any values they might have to support their candidates.
You can bet the DemocRAT 'smear the Swiftees' campaign will be kicked up to a whole new level now.
Support for the Swiftees is crucial right now, so they can get these ads on the air on REGULAR TV in battleground states.
FReepers are key in getting the word out about the righteousness of the SBVFT by exposing Kerry's FRAUD.

More importantly, Colmes' second attempt to "prove" how Kerry was misquoted was a total dud. Right after he played the two clips, Terry Holt remarked that there was no contradiction.
He looks like he's lost some weight that he didn't need to lose. Wonder if he's sick.
colmes looks like he either did or could have posed for the painting "The Scream".
Everytime I see him, that is the first thing that comes to my mind....that painting.
"Kerry, upon returning from Vietnam, founded the VVAW"
I think it would be more accurate to say he joined not founded. Good work. See

Terry Holt may be a very nice guy, but he's really starting to look bad. He never has an answer for Meehan that takes the guy down a peg. Meehan could say Kerry is God and ole Terry Holt would lean forward, cock his head and say, "Now, wait, Mike, I'd like to refute that."
In these last sixty days, the GOP needs tenacious, firm and worthy spokespersons, not meek and mild milquetoasts.
Sorry Alan... but jeeziz... you sure act like a Mary
"Yet not a single story from the MSM revealing Kerry's clearly treasonous actions in his VVAW position."
Give it less than a week. Promise.
The more I watch this guy's world implosion tour, the more I feel the Clintons set him up as a Grand sacrificial lamb. This guy won't make it to election day with 20% of the vote. He's a goner. I'd almost be willing to bet Nader gets more votes than him. Especially since he's employed Hillary to help him on the "truth" squad. He was finished before he started. Howard Dean would have more credibility than this dolt. And he's got mickey mouse following him around. Goofy and Mickey. We need a surge of Democrat class - somebody bring back the eyebrows in the tank - he was at least more interesting than bread mold.
Not even Colmes should be compared to that "painting." Art, indeed.
February 13, 1970 -- Candidate Kerry tells the Harvard Crimson, "I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations," and that he wants "to almost eliminate CIA activity."
Complain about Colmes if you must, but I've never heard him repeat ad nauseum the same points to absolutely every guest that appears on the show.
