Forget about Kerry for a moment. If your family and community had been carpet bombed for years, and tens of thousands of your neighbors, men women AND CHILDREN had been slaughtered by the invaders, you might have a beef with the people who sent the bombers too.

You might even be vulnerable to being recruited by your cultural equivalent of the Islamofascists, and not be very solicitous of the families and children of the population that sent its bombers and armies into your country.

War, especially total war on civilian populations, has unpleasant effects on those who are caught up in it. You see photos of one action in this Chechen struggle. There are plenty more where the victims were Chechen civilians, including children, going back many years.
