I wish he could find out who the reporter was.

DEB RIECHMANN sent in an earlier report on Bush's speech in West Allis.

But it could have been a local stringer. One in Milwaukee really doesn't like Bush.

The media has gotten very lazy. Being "first" is more important than being "correct". I give Drudge credit for quickly correcting errors. Print media and the large TV networks can't turn a story around that quickly. If they ever do, the damage has already been done. Shameful.

There is a big difference between "correct" and "BLATANT LIE". This was an out and out blatant lie. Screw the AP and Reuters too. Go NEW MEDIA!!

I wrote an email to Yahoo saying that I'm never going on their site again because of their using these AP stories filled with outright falsehoods.

Local Radio Talk host has contacted the AP office in Milwaukee. He is waiting for a return phone call from the women who promised the name of the AP reporter who filed the story. Stay tuned

I agree with the Presidents sentiment and loved the choice of words "We send him our best wishes for a SWIFT and speedy recovery".

Well at least they are consistent liars. I called AP National first (212) 621-1600. They told me that it was the regional office not them. In fact the old bat on the line got very upset and told me "Research it yourself. I'm in NY how would I know who wrote a story in Wisconsin". Click

This is a massive lying smear against supporters of the President. The liars at the AP do not simply need to correct the story they need to APOLOGIZE to the people at that rally who supported the Presidents sincere words regarding the health of Former President Clinton!!!

They also need to fire the lying sonofa*itch who threw spat this feces all over the wires.

If you go to:

http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/bw-elect/2004/sep/03/090300455.html

You will find a fairly long AP story about President Bush's speech at West Allis, Wis., written by Deb Riechmann. She's probably travelling with the President.

The story contains this paragraph:

"Before launching into his speech in West Allis, outside Milwaukee, Bush expressed concern for Clinton's condition and said the nation's hopes and prayers were with those affected by the deadly hostage incident in Russia."

It's pretty obvious that she filed the report on Bush's comment about Clinton and either her file contained the booing info or the rewrite guy at AP headquarters just put it in for the hell of it.

The AP should be able to quickly get to the bottom of the problem and either fire Riechmann for filing an erroneous story or the rewrite guy for writing fiction.

re: " In fact the old bat on the line got very upset "

Ah yes! Brings back a few memories. AP will flag a story on the wire as having art to go with it and the page designer/editor will come charging back to the news photo lab wanting to know where the pictures are. After checking the photo wire and determining they definitely aren't there you call AP New York to ask about them. Their attitude is terrible. You would think that since they are a member organization they would at least try to sound considerate. Wrong. They act like you're out of your mind to want the photos they said would be provided. Then you have to go back over to the newsroom and tell the designer there is no art, never a pleasant task as he's already got the page laid out and without the art doesn't want to run the story. Now he has to redesign the page and means calling the editor over to OK the changes. It frequently goes downhill from there!

Hey thanks for the contact info (Tom Curley, President, CEO, AP, tcurley@ap.org) I sent them this:

It's bad enough your reporting is inherently anti-Bush, but today was over the top. Stating that the crowd boo'd after learning of Clinton's ailment from Pres. Bush and Bush did nothing, is deplorable. You should remember that at least half of Americans really really like the president. So, when your writers continually bash Bush it is insulting to us.

I am an American living abroad. The BBC is reporting the booing like it is the honest truth, complete with appalled faces on the anchor and the reporter. Really shows you how the media bias works. IT IS ALL LIES......
