I could not disagree with you more. I don't think that having guns is dangerous in and of itself, but I think we'd have unspeakably dangerous situations on hand if teachers were armed. I am not a pacificists, but I don't think it's a good idea. I don't mind having some weapons on the school property with assigned people to use them if necessary, but I think arming teachers is asking for deadly trouble.
I can understand why you don't want guns in class but wouldn't it be easier to get rid of the murderous students and teachers? Then everybody could relax a little.
I have never once felt a moment's fear that I was going to be killed when I have attended gun shows, competitions, gone down to the range, or gone out hunting (well, maybe). Guns, like cars, are only tools.
Somehow I don't think putting up signs saying, "Hostage-Free Zone" is going to cut it. It sure didn't work for drugs.
Lord Have Mercy!
I find when I am armed, it forces me to be more aware of my surroundings and more measured in my actions. When I am around those who are armed, I am more polite and respectful. Couldn't our schools use more of this?
I think you're exactly right. In all the studies I've seen, parental involvement is the number one greatest impact on student success. It's interesting that we are now hearing these commercials that advocate eating dinner with your family. It's all about family involvement.
they just announced on the radio, one of the terrorists blew herself up and that caused the majority of the casualties.
It's the best plan available. How many thousands of others would be sacrificed for the failure to deal with hostage-takers the way one should? Don't you see the connection between the success of hostage-taking in Iraq and the efforts to take hostages elsewhere?
If the results of a hostage situation are a lot of people angry enough to want to kill jihadis wherever they may hide, then it is less likely that future hostages will be taken. If the result is that they get part or all of what they want, it guarantees more hostages will be taken.
The chechens have long targeted children. In 95 this same leader commanded the takeover of a hospital in Budennovsk with 1600 people inside. He killed some 100-150 of them. Made many of them stand at the windows.
When I was in Russia in 96 these same scum had kidnapped a 6 year old girl from her bedroom in Moscow. They were cutting off her fingers one at a time and sending videos of it to her parents.
A few years back on one of the chechen forums, one of the more popular items being discussed and salivated about was a video taken of a chechen disemboweling a 5 month old Russian infant in front of the mother. They were begging for copies of the video. It made me want to vomit.
These are not human beings but demons straight from hell. They have long been fond of targeting children.
Yes, we do need to be more respectful, but if it takes a gun to give that to a person, then they shouldn't be working in education.
Count me as being on the side of Putin.
It is easier to call for action on the other side of the world, but if Putin is forming up a coalition to go to war against these scum, I support the US lining up.
It makes sense - Islamo-NaChechens were Nazis in WW2 and remember their SS Death Head's training.
You're right, technically it was a question. But what you SAID was something else entirely.
Amen. +Memory Eternal+
OK, I don't support you having a loaded weapon, but there are teachers in every school whom I would support. They know how to protect and use lethal hardware, and they would be on the inside if trouble broke out. As for deranged students getting a weapon, do you suppose they could get one somewhere today? If they do would you like to see a fellow teacher armed when they come after you? think it over. (Former "unarmed" teacher for weapons in schools.)
Absolutely. I'm not against having some guns in the schools, I just don't want the teachers in the classroom armed. I don't mind, theoretically, having armed volunteers patrolling, but I'd be very concerned about who we might get in the patrols. I don't think that is an unreasonable concern.
My reason for saying it easy for them, is not because it's on the other side of the world. It is because they don't have Rather/Jennings/Brokjaw to put up with. An independent press is a good thing. When Truman dropped the bombs on Japan I saw no nasty editorials. Sadly the US MSM is mostly leftists, unlike WWII. That is why Putin should set the precident.
I could not disagree with you more.
This is so true. The larges muslim groups were loudly proclaiming against those who attacked us on 9-11. It never seemed to make the US news, but I remember reading it on Lenta.ru. One group after another, statement after statement, and very strongly worded.
Also this is (north) Ossetia, not Russia. A very poor country with very few options as the other half of it are basically terrorists.
