646 vicitms of terrorist act in Beslan hospitalized.

03.09.2004, 22.00

“The former hostages are receiving therapy in mobile hospitals and clinics of Beslan and Vladikavkaz,” the source said.

Some 130 wounded people, including children, are in the Vladikavkaz clinic. The republican clinic has 38 patients, including five children, with the severest wounds and traumas, and the children’s clinic of Vladikavkaz has admitted 186 children.

Eighty adults are receiving therapy in the airmobile hospital, 200 in the medical emergency clinic, 32 in the republican clinic, two in the military hospital of Vladikavkaz, and four in the first town hospital of Vladikavkaz.

The town hospital of Beslan has admitted 98 adults, two were sent to the defense ministry hospital in Vladikavkaz, and one is in the Ardon town hospital.

“The majority of patients have bullet wounds in the back,” the sources said.

The storming of the school, was not prepared, the Russian president’s adviser Aslambek Aslakhanov told reporters on Friday. “We were getting ready for dialogue in order to avoid spilling blood,” he said.

Aslakhanov arrived in Beslan by air to take part in negotiation with the hostage takers.

According to Aslakhanov, “ the terrorists demanded the withdrawal of the troops from Chechnya and the release of all the people who had been arrested for attacking the security agencies of Ingushetia on June 22.”

Aslakhanov said seven to 30 terrorists had been in the captured school. There were representatives of various ethnic groups in the gang. It was fully international, he said.

The number of those killed in the Beslan hostage crisis may by far exceed 150," Aslakhanov said.

Seventy-nine victims of the hostage crisis were identified by 9:15 p.m. Moscow time, head of the Federal Security Service’s North Ossetian department and the crisis center Valery Andreyev said.

“Unfortunately, the death rate is mounting,” he said adding that the operation against the terrorists is going on.

The Islamifascists have been targeting innocent women and children for years in Israel.

And in Russia as well. See my post 88.

As I understand it, a group of about 30 women and children escaped by themselves suddenly. As they were running from the school the terrorist started shooting them down. The Russian forces started to return fire trying to save those escaping. Then everything fell apart.

That is in no way Putin's fault.

Hopefully Putin will learn something from this regarding Islamist terrorists. He's arming the Iranian terrorists with nukes and that is unacceptable.

No need to remove Chechnya

Removing Chechnya isn't the entire answer. But it's a great beginning!

"It won't happen here because it's illegal to have a gun on school property."

That's some flawed logic.

show me a criminal or a terrorist who obeys they law.

"If the results of a hostage situation are a lot of people angry enough to want to kill jihadis wherever they may hide, then it is less likely that future hostages will be taken. If the result is that they get part or all of what they want, it guarantees more hostages will be taken."

Of course.

Basically the conflict started in the Yeltsin years. Once Russia started this conflict, Al Queda began sending field officers to Chechyna and other Caucus countries to begin a terrorist offensive against Russia. From what I have read up on, this new trend of islamic terrorist involvement began around 1996.

Bin Laden has much experience fighting against the Soviets in the 80's. It is not surprising his hand is involved to once again "repel" the infadels.

Russia should tuck tail on this one in Chechnya. They really have nothing to gain strategically or economically from their involvement there.

Most Chechens favor Russia.

Basayev almost won the election when he ran. That stopped me from believing in innocent chechen civilians. Oh sure there are some. But I spent a month or so at the border.

The "innocent" chechens do things like chase Orthodox priests and yell at them telling them they will sodomize them with broom handles. Terrorize the local Russians across the border with threats. Run the human slave market in Grozny and sell videos by the boxload of Russian soldiers (captured) having their throats slit. Vandalize the missionary Baptists and blow up their churches for fun.

I think any decent chechen people left long ago.

I know. It makes me sick. I the last bus homicide bombing a 3 year old little boy was one of the deaths. Of course my position is not popular on that either. I believe in pushing the Arabs(no such thing as palestinians)to the other side of the Jordan where they belong.

There is no question about this...you are absolutely correct. You know in the Patriot...Mel Gibson's character said something like this is a war that will be fought amongst us and our children-not in a foreign land. Unfortunately, this is true of our present war as well. This is the beginning of a difficult and dangerous time for our country and our families.

They shot all the sleeping terrorists in the head while they were still in the theatre.

I knew about this. I don't have a problem with it, do you?

I don't recall reading of any specific military retaliation.

Me either, that's why I asked.

But they are already trying to take chechnya from the terrorists anyway.

Would it be better to allow chechnya to remain a breeding ground for terrorists. I'm not sure I understand what you want. Do you want Putin to let the people in chechnya defend themselves against the terrorists, by themselves?

On the television here in Eastern Europe, they are saying that ten of the MUSLIM TERRORISTS were Arabs.

If they say Muslim Terrorists in EE and not in the US, there is a reason for that. Could it be Kerry? But GW would never say something like this either. He is all about the piece of peace story. OK, we are not supposed to hate Radical Islamists. But why you guys are supposed to? Very interesting.

not fighting just point out the truth, and believe me I have been praying every day since 9/11.

THIS IS REALITY. WE WILL GET HIT AGAIN!

People need to understand that as great as our government is ultimately the defense of American Soil comes down to the common citizen. There are not enough military units to patrol all the communities in America. Regular citizens like you, and myself need to be vigilante and watchful of suspicious activities and be prepared if necessary to take action. Who is going to be on the scene quicker if a terrorist took over a school. The community and police, not the military of the federal government. Even with all the great technology and vehicles it still takes time to get units in position. If you take this as an aggressive tone it is, but it is meant as a stern warning. This is our new reality. There are a lot of lessons that I think we could learn from the Israeli's and the Russians when it comes to dealing with Terrorists and international criminals. Gone is the time when we have to worry about offending someone we need to worry more if they are intending to harm us.

Russia should tuck tail on this one in Chechnya.

But they basically did, back in 96. And the terrorists began invading bordering countries, like Dagestan. And kept kidnapping = those two years were the worst for kidnapping ever.

Understand this. The chechens may have once been freedom fighters but they are now firmly wahhabi world-dominance fighters. They want all of the Caucasus to be wahhabi.

Just like their buddies around the world, especially in Albania, the chechens now claim that Georgia, Ossetia, and Dagestan, among other places, used to be part of them and should be again.

Stalin deported the entire population in the early 50's. it worked. This would work today as well. Drain the swamp so the crocs are in broad daylight.

Part of Russia's problem is they have played both sides of the fence in supporting regimes which in turn support terrorism. Now the croc is beginning to bite them hard for this foolish strategy.
