And in Russia as well. See my post 88.
As I understand it, a group of about 30 women and children escaped by themselves suddenly. As they were running from the school the terrorist started shooting them down. The Russian forces started to return fire trying to save those escaping. Then everything fell apart.
That is in no way Putin's fault.
Hopefully Putin will learn something from this regarding Islamist terrorists. He's arming the Iranian terrorists with nukes and that is unacceptable.
Removing Chechnya isn't the entire answer. But it's a great beginning!
"If the results of a hostage situation are a lot of people angry enough to want to kill jihadis wherever they may hide, then it is less likely that future hostages will be taken. If the result is that they get part or all of what they want, it guarantees more hostages will be taken."
Of course.
Basically the conflict started in the Yeltsin years. Once Russia started this conflict, Al Queda began sending field officers to Chechyna and other Caucus countries to begin a terrorist offensive against Russia. From what I have read up on, this new trend of islamic terrorist involvement began around 1996.
Bin Laden has much experience fighting against the Soviets in the 80's. It is not surprising his hand is involved to once again "repel" the infadels.
Russia should tuck tail on this one in Chechnya. They really have nothing to gain strategically or economically from their involvement there.
Basayev almost won the election when he ran. That stopped me from believing in innocent chechen civilians. Oh sure there are some. But I spent a month or so at the border.
The "innocent" chechens do things like chase Orthodox priests and yell at them telling them they will sodomize them with broom handles. Terrorize the local Russians across the border with threats. Run the human slave market in Grozny and sell videos by the boxload of Russian soldiers (captured) having their throats slit. Vandalize the missionary Baptists and blow up their churches for fun.
I think any decent chechen people left long ago.
I know. It makes me sick. I the last bus homicide bombing a 3 year old little boy was one of the deaths. Of course my position is not popular on that either. I believe in pushing the Arabs(no such thing as palestinians)to the other side of the Jordan where they belong.
I know. Thanx
There is no question about this...you are absolutely correct. You know in the Patriot...Mel Gibson's character said something like this is a war that will be fought amongst us and our children-not in a foreign land. Unfortunately, this is true of our present war as well. This is the beginning of a difficult and dangerous time for our country and our families.
I knew about this. I don't have a problem with it, do you?
I don't recall reading of any specific military retaliation.
Me either, that's why I asked.
But they are already trying to take chechnya from the terrorists anyway.
Would it be better to allow chechnya to remain a breeding ground for terrorists. I'm not sure I understand what you want. Do you want Putin to let the people in chechnya defend themselves against the terrorists, by themselves?
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
If I did, you're sick.
But they basically did, back in 96. And the terrorists began invading bordering countries, like Dagestan. And kept kidnapping = those two years were the worst for kidnapping ever.
Understand this. The chechens may have once been freedom fighters but they are now firmly wahhabi world-dominance fighters. They want all of the Caucasus to be wahhabi.
Just like their buddies around the world, especially in Albania, the chechens now claim that Georgia, Ossetia, and Dagestan, among other places, used to be part of them and should be again.
Heh, heh. No I think southern Russia needs a new large parking lot. I have posted that here for many years. Not very Christian of me but there it is.
Stalin deported the entire population in the early 50's. it worked. This would work today as well. Drain the swamp so the crocs are in broad daylight.
Part of Russia's problem is they have played both sides of the fence in supporting regimes which in turn support terrorism. Now the croc is beginning to bite them hard for this foolish strategy.
The really sad thing is if we hadn't interefered in Bosnia, the Soviets might have been able to stop the Islamofacists. We helped the terrorist...Damn Clinton and his cohorts. Just Damn.
