WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery."
"He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally.
Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.
Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath.
Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."
I should clarify and say that by "I watched it live", I meant "I watched it live on TV." I wasn't there. There may have been a few boos, but if they were they were drowned out in the broadcast by the applause.
And telling the AP to stop lying would probably be about as effective as pointing out to MoveOn.org the error of their ways, or trying to reason with Michael Moore.
I am listening to the speech live on WTMJ. When the President said this, the audience applauded. I did not hear a single boo.
This story is a blatant lie, and someone needs to straighten AP out.
The press has been doing that for years. This is nothing new.
I am sure only a handful of people booed. The majority of the crowd had much more class than that. Leave it to spin.

Actually, it is better for truth when the press is obviously lying. The Russian people knew that Pravda was full of lies. Our press is not much different.
If there was even one boo, the press would write that the "highly partisan crowd booed at the redmeat remarks Bush made about President Clinton."
Bush could have made a private phone call to Clinton and wished him the best. Why did he have to do it at a campaign rally with die-hard conservatives in the audience? Sheesh, I get so sick of Bush with this compassionate crap. People like Clinton hate Bush's guts.
I think it was his compassionate side that got him elected in the first place. You can be conservative and still care about people.
Meanwhile at Tereza's house, Mr. French is cursing that Clinton's stolen his headlines again, and praying that if Bubba is going to die, he'll do it closer to the election so Kerry can get a bounce.
The AP should required to register as a 527 for the Rats.
Oh, for crying out loud. What's he supposed to do? Order the military to mow them down? Try to "suushhh" them, like one of the Kerry kids tried to do with that audience reaction the other day?
Well, shoot, AP can do better than this. Why not:
1. Hurricane Frances head towards Florida. Bush does nothing to stop it.
2. The sun sets in the West today. Bush has done nothing to stop it.
3. Tens of millions of people farted today. Bush did nothing to stop them.
4. Thousands of people died of natural causes today in the US. Bush did nothing to save them.
5. My teenage son was snotty to me today. Bush did nothing to stop him.
What next for these media scumbags? I'm telling you, they've gone completely bonkers in their hatred for George Bush. It's affected their minds, I swear...
Nobody here likes Klintoon and with good reason, but it is appropriate to pray for him. I will certainly pray for his spedy and complete recovery.
