WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery."
"He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally.
Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.
Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath.
Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."
I was at the rally and it was fantastic. I can assure you all that the AP writers are lying SOS. There were no boos, only applause.
Complain to someone...write an email to Hugh Hewitt or Brit Hume or Sean Hannity....just don't let this bias pass.
Hannity mentioned Boos story just before current break. Fox will play the tape!
I sent these threads to Bozell at the MRC.
I ATTENDED that rally and there were NO BOOS.
AP is despicable for inserting what they WANT to be the truth into a story like this. I've sent them my thoughts. You can to at: info@ap.org
The crowd did not boo, they said "WHO?".
:-)
BTTT
Where's McCain when we need campaign press reform?
Gee whiz, didn't the democrats boo Trent Lott and other Republicans attending Wellstone's funeral?
Email sent to AP. I hope all stations replay the sound bite tonight of President Bush wishing President Clinton well. The crowd applauded in agreement.
I understand that many in the audience cheered when Garrison Keillor announced Reagan's death during one of his shows.
That's funny as hell. :D
Prayers for the former President.
Seems like they rewrote the article and took out any reference to boos. Seems the lying bastards were caught as the video shown on all the networks proved otherwise.
I am an American living abroad. The BBC is reporting the booing like it is the honest truth, complete with appalled faces on the anchor and the reporter. Really shows you how the media bias works. IT IS ALL LIES......
They still have the story up with the bogus headline though.
He did call him and wish him the best. From Air Force One. Plus, mentioning it at a campaign event is perfectly appropriate. Ex-presidents deserve respect, just like when Reagan died.
I don't like the State I've lived my entire life in, getting a bad name like this. I was there, right in the middle of the floor.
I don't know how it would have played out in other states, but I'm proud to say that not one single person booed. There was a quiet gasp and then when Bush extended well wishes, we all applauded respectfully.
And it wasn't planned. We weren't told about Clinton before Bush stepped up there. Or any B.S. like that.
Some may not like Clinton, but he was still our President, and that does still deserve some respect.
I'm not really directing this post only towards "palmer". Just wanted to give you all the truth from someone who was actually there.
