Susan Estrich Warns of Upcoming Feces from Kerry and DNC on Bush-Cheney (Unhinged DNC alert)
Creators.Com ^ | 09/03/04 | Susan Estrich

My Democratic friends are mad as hell, and they aren't going to take it any more.

They are worried, having watched as another August smear campaign, full of lies and half-truths, takes its toll in the polls.

They are frustrated, mostly at the Kerry campaign, for naively believing that just because all the newspapers and news organizations that investigated the charges of the Swift Boat assassins found them to be full of lies and half-truths, they wouldn't take their toll. The word on the street is that Kerry himself was ready to fire back the day the story broke, but that his campaign, believing the charges would blow over if they ignored them, counseled restraint.

But most of all, activists Democrats are angry. As one who lived through an August like this, 16 years ago -- replete with rumors that were lies, which the Bush campaign claimed they had nothing to do with and later admitted they had planted -- I'm angry, too. I've been to this movie. I know how it works. Lies move numbers.

Remember the one about Dukakis suffering from depression after he lost the governorship? (Dukakis not crazy, more at 11.) We lost six points over that lie, planted by George W.'s close friend and colleague in the 1988 campaign, Lee Atwater. Or how about the one about Kitty Dukakis burning a flag at an antiwar demonstration, another out-and-out lie, which the Bush campaign denied having anything to do with, except that it turned out to have come from a United States senator via the Republican National Committee? Lee Atwater later apologized to me for that, too, on his deathbed. Did I mention that Lee's wife is connected to the woman running the Swift Boat campaign?

Never again, we said then.

Will it be the three, or is it four or five, drunken driving arrests that Bush and Cheney, the two most powerful men in the world, managed to rack up? (Bush's Texas record has been sealed. Now why would that be? Who seals a perfect driving record?)

After Vietnam, nothing is ancient history, and Cheney is still drinking. What their records suggest is not only a serious problem with alcoholism, which Bush but not Cheney has acknowledged, but also an even more serious problem of judgment. Could Dick Cheney get a license to drive a school bus with his record of drunken driving? (I can see the ad now.) A job at a nuclear power plant? Is any alcoholic ever really cured? So why put him in the most stressful job in the world, with a war going south, a thousand Americans already dead and control of weapons capable of destroying the world at his fingertips.

Susan Estrich has not gone ballistic, but supernova! However, I'm not worried about what they find; I'm worried about what they make up.

Go for it!

Those guys will come across as bigger kooks than they already do.

To ordinary Americans George W. Bush comes across as real, warm, honest. On his best day, Kerry is cold, calculating, elitist snob.

Kerry's labor union allies are barfing in their shoes with this guy.

Bring the activists on. We'll see the real face of the Democrat party!

Before he became a Christian, George W. probably did a lot of things he now regrets. That's part of becoming a Believer -- your sins are washed away.

No matter what the left throws at him, GWB's base will stand by him because they know his heart.

Security trumps all.........unless your on the dole........then domestic matters are the only thing your interested!

In an environment created by 9-11, my money is on the majority voting for security. This is the real reason the DIMwits are made as hell. Their agenda is slipping away from their grasp.

How old was Susan when she ran that campaign in 1988. She must have been in her mid 30s.

Yeah but how stupid is it to announce that's what you are going to do if you actually think it will help your guy?

I think that she is trying to warn Republicans as her candidate(s) are taking in a lot of water.

And not just at the presidential level-- Daschle is in trouble and is showing photos of him hugging W. I think that is a more telling indicator-- even the national Dems see W as a stronger candidate.

And last night you can add drunk, too.

serpent man carville

Did you catch "Larry King Live" Thursday? Ex-President GHWB said that Carville "is a friend of mine."

Not only did you not mention that, you also failed to inform us that a woman is running the swift boat campaign at all. Seems you've got a mind like a plastic sieve.

BTW, Suzie, don't you have to hustle off to NYC to administer a pre-op BJ on Clinton?

The problem the 'Rats are having is that so much--Swiftboat and Senate record included--is proveable. According to some sources, even the Dept. of the Navy is looking into Kerry's medals. That's what makes them so mad--not lies, but the lack of lies. If they were just lies, they could easily disprove them. That's harder to do with the truth.

This was written on/before September 1, prior to Zell Miller's expose of the Democratic Party. Wonder what she says now?

But there's also no question at all that Lee Atwater's dirty tricks and lies helped push him. Thats just history, straight from the mouth of Atwater.

Certainly Atwater ran a vicious campaign, but I maintain that it was the Dukaksis in the tank video that sunk him. I still can't get that image out of my mind.

Susan I hate to tell you this but all the newspapers and news organizations that investigated the charges spent a combined total of 8 seconds investigating. That's about how long it took to pick up the talking point FAX's from the DNC.

They are losing it. They think the answer to their imploding campaign is to do more of the same, but this time louder and with more spittle.

It isn't working, and they can't figure out why.

People who love America want to be led by someone who loves America. It isn't a debating tactic. People can tell, when they look at a Kerry, and even more when they look at the mobs of screamers in the streets that these are people who hold the rest of us in contempt.

People have seen what 30 years of inattention to terrorism by both parties has brought us, they see that our traditional allies have mocked us and betrayed us, and they aren't up for being lectured by Kerry about our failure to convince Chirac and Schoeder to quit betraying us.

They see the UN sucking money out of the Oil for Food and they don't want to be lectured by Kerry about how much more moral the UN is than their own elected government.

Millions of people in America work in the oil and gas industry, and understand it, and when your average English professor in the streets of NYC this week screams about Bush's war for oil, they know he's deranged. Screaming it louder isn't going to make him seem any less deranged.

But since their election strategy is failing them, I highly recommend they put their failing strategy on turbocharge and steroids, so we can get this thing over even faster. If they kick up the amps high enough, they may not even last til November.

The funny thing is, compared to Kerry in the bunny suit, Dukakis in the tank looks positively masculine. :o)
