Clinton to Undergo Heart Surgery in NY Hospital
Reuters ^ | 9/3/04

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton has checked into a New York hospital and will undergo heart bypass surgery, U.S. networks reported on Friday.

ABC and CBS television reported that Clinton, 58, had checked into New York Presbyterian Hospital for quadruple heart bypass surgery.

A Democratic Party official told Reuters that Clinton had checked into the hospital with "chest pains." The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, could not confirm that Clinton would undergo bypass surgery.

CNN quoted a source close to the former president as saying the surgery could take place as early as Saturday.

Clinton, the 42nd U.S. president, promised at the Democratic convention in July to be a "foot soldier" in John Kerry's race against Republican President Bush.

I hope he is around a very long time and enjoys very good health after this procedure.
His continuing presence post surgery is the best advertisement possible for starting a tradition of a long line of Republican presidents--not to mention consuming fewer fatty (aka--supersized fries) lunches.

Hate his politics and his lack of integrity, (not to mention his wife) but I, too, wish him well.

IF this was a political stunt....it would be in order to help Kerry....because it could slow the bump that Bush would get out of the Convention.

There is a Dem here in the office that is actually saying that. Kinda makes one wonder.

He pointed out that the Clinton's knew about this yesterday when Bill went to the Hospital....
Yet...Hillary still left this morning for upstate New York for campaigning.

While that makes her a heartless b!tch....I am not sure it means this is political...

eghhhh... I don't know about this. I'm torn between wishing him well. I mean, I don't generally wish harm for other people...BUT, I'm sorry for not exactly giving a s**t over what happens to him For all the violent crap the left has said about my guys like GW and Reagan over the years (and let's not forget what they've said about Cheney) and given the fact they would jumping for joy if this happened to Bush and given my absolute dislike of that f**king fraud Clinton.

Only out of my respect for this board do I say this. I wish ClinTOON well and hope he makes it out of this o.k.

I remember when he was President and refused to release his medical records. I always assumed he was hiding treatment for some sexually transmitted disesase. In any case I wish him a full and speedy recovery. Maybe this will teach him some humility and good will come of it.

The comments in this thread have been very classy and sincere. Somehow, I don't think the comments on some of the leftist boards would be anywhere near as "well-wishing" if President Bush or if Vice President Cheyney had to undergo heart surgery. In fact, I am sure they would be downright vile and hateful. But, that's the difference between us and them. Get well slick Willie.

Naw....
According to a dem in our office.
If it were for political reasons...he would have developed the heart issue in order to slow the bump Bush gets out of the Convention. Take attention away from Bush.

But since the guy is a Dem...maybe he knows something...

I question the timing of this.

Despite my loathing for Clinton throughout his presidency and since, to hold ill will for him at a time like this would be petty and serve nothing but spite. Best wishs for a minimum of suffering and a full recovery.

CNN is reporting that his wife will not change her busy public schedule. She is in Syracuse and will not return to New York to be with her husband.
