NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton has checked into a New York hospital and will undergo heart bypass surgery, U.S. networks reported on Friday.
ABC and CBS television reported that Clinton, 58, had checked into New York Presbyterian Hospital for quadruple heart bypass surgery.
A Democratic Party official told Reuters that Clinton had checked into the hospital with "chest pains." The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, could not confirm that Clinton would undergo bypass surgery.
CNN quoted a source close to the former president as saying the surgery could take place as early as Saturday.
Clinton, the 42nd U.S. president, promised at the Democratic convention in July to be a "foot soldier" in John Kerry's race against Republican President Bush.
Even though the guy's a dog, I hope he gets through this one with flying colors.
Well, I for one, as much as I thought he was the wrong person to be president for this country, cannot wish Clinton ill will.
So, I'm wishing him well.
All politics aside, I wish him the best.
I hope they give him a private room after the surgery. With a sink.
I guess it isn't a total surprise. He was a junk food junkie and he blew up in weight after he left office. It looks like he lost quite a bit over the past year--maybe he had a medical warning to do so.
C'mon. Can't we at least hope that the wee goes out of his willie!
Man! is there anything this guy will not do for "free press"?
I tell ya' Clinton's a political genius! what a better way to distract from J-Fink's campaign (For Hilary's sake) than this?!
In spite of it all, I wish him the best and a prayer for a speedy recovery.
Prayers for President Clinton and his family....
You can beat this one too.
NOPE! Fox just reported that he admitted himself because of chest pain one day ago! And the surgery was not scheduled until later this next week! Sorry folks, but I sense a THEATRICAL stunt! I hope I'm wrong though!
Quadruple surgery isnt that uncommon or risky as its been in the past. Wishes for a speedy recovery..
"All politics aside, I wish him the best."
Me too. I'm gonna send a thank you card for taking the spotlight off the Johns today too.
The REAL question - will he go to a hospital with socialized medicine and wait six months for an any doctor or will he find the best private hospital with the best doctors?
Best Wishes, Mr President.
Despite my disdain for Bill Clinton, no one should wish ill on anyone else.
Who was he with when he had the heart attack?
How old was she?
