Take it from someone who has been there (recipient of the operation), he will indeed be off the stage for awhile. That operation, which entails sawing through your breastbone, for one thing, leaves you in a weakened state for three to four months.
You have almost no energy at all for the first two months, if you are the average patient.
It is impossible to have planned this, but now Mr. Clinton will not be able to campaign for Mr. Kerry. Fancy that.

I just walked 4 miles and I would advise anyone needing open heart surgery for whatever reason to get it but it's a helluva ride.

Different strokes for different folks. I had triple bypass on 7/27/04. They had me walking on day 3 and sent me home on day 5. On day 12 I was walking a mile and on day 18 I was driving to work and took my grandson to the the drag races that afternoon. I had no depression and no chest pain but the leg just quit hurting about 5 days ago....
