Well, before I came to work in my prsent job writing programming tools for programmers to program with, I spent nearly a decade helping design hemodynamic patient monitors for Cath Labs, Telemetry systems for Cardiac Rehab, data transport mechanisms for Pacemakers, and Holter systems for cardiac patients (now being used in the Space Program, oddly enough)...

But, I don't do that any more. I kinda miss it though. The only saving grace is that I know the technology will be there when I have my major cardiac event down the road ;0)

Yep. Screenname of Frodo.

Dang! Seems like Frodo deserves the party loyalist award for the day...

Different strokes for different folks. I had triple bypass on 7/27/04. They had me walking on day 3 and sent me home on day 5. On day 12 I was walking a mile and on day 18 I was driving to work and took my grandson to the the drag races that afternoon. I had no depression and no chest pain but the leg just quit hurting about 5 days ago....

You then might be surprised to learn just how much humor helps patients in his position.

Indeed. Norman Cousins in "Anatomy of an Illness" chronicled his use of humor in his healing. Many studies since his book seem to confirm this.

Our rapist friend actually had a funny line I just heard on ABC Radio news -- the Republicans aren't the only ones who want four more years.

She said he was in good spirits or something like that and they played cards and something about other games. I just can't visualize them playing cards or any games together. Guess I'm a grinch but after hearing about all their fighting (ashtray & lamp throwing included) in the White House, including Inauguration Day, I just don't see a family game of Crazy 8's for these two. Still, I don't wish or pray for anyone's death...only that hearts be converted and darkness replaced by His light.

All this time I thought Clinton didn't have a heart.

There is definitely a moral dilemma on this thread. It is true that we should pray for our ideological enemy; however, many of us see Bill Clinton as more than an ex-President, but a rapist or sexual offender at best if you believe the stories of Juanita Broderick and others.

He certainly doesn’t deserve condemnation if it’s purely ideological. People leveled hatred against Dick Cheney when he had surgery simply because people believed him to be involved with Halliburton. People leveled hatred against Ronald Reagan when he died because of numerous political reasons. Outside of politics these men led and lead honorable lives.

Rape is something though, especially if the rapist is unapologetic. In the end, many of us believe Bill Clinton to be an unapologetic and evil man. It’s difficult to categorize his evilness on a line chart or compare it to other evil men; but being that evil is a word that I think describes him I personally have a hard time praying for him; however I will.

Given his charisma and speaking abilities, Bill Clinton could still be an enormous force for good in this world if God chooses. We’ve seen other people that we thought were unredeemable receive the wake-up call of 9/11. So I would encourage everyone to not only pray for Bill Clinton to recover but to come out of his recovery with a new outlook on the dangers of socialism.

Ideologically, Bill Clinton is a socially liberal-leaning Democrat, not a pure socialist; he at least didn’t enact sweeping socialist reform. The Republican Party has effectively merged real Democrats with Republicans while the Democrat party has no American representation left in this campaign; it’s consumed by European socialism. I believe John Kerry will implement, if he’s able to, broad socialist reform to our nation.

My 2cents.

Hillary Clinton used the opportunity to take jabs at the Republicans health care plan at her press conference. Didn't surprise me. Hillary is partisan scum. My heartfelt sympathies seemed to vanish at about that time.

"I believe John Kerry will implement, if he’s able to, broad socialist reform to our nation."

heh. I don't believe we will be able to stop this trend towards "becoming like the european socialists" with anything short of the american revolution part 2.

But regarding the current fight against these trends: I am more concerned about what Hilary would do if she was president. I can only imagine the horrors she has waiting for america in her demented mind.

I will be sending Bill a post card wishing him well but adding that this is the appropriate time to seek Juanita's forgiveness. Post cards are good as messages because everyone will see them who handles them. Hmmmm, should it be in prose or a limerick?

I don't know and don't really care what he says under anesthesia

I mentioned my case only because it was funny, to me anyway, to learn that people will say strange things going in to or coming out of anesthesia. And, I know you are serious about the medicine given to heart patients. I'm sorry if I seemed uncivil; it was not my intention at all.

My maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather each reacted oddly to just about every medication they were ever given. My grandfather, who had Alzheimer's +, was given a tranquilizer because he would get very agitated and difficult for my mother to take care of. Instead of calming him down, he went outside and chopped wood for about three hours. He didn't recall doing that the next day and couldn't understand why his arms, shoulders and back were sore. But, he could not be stopped while under the medication. Medicine can be a blessing and it can be a curse and I'm truly sorry about side effects experienced by your loved ones.

It's worse than a joke. These insurance companies employ armies of people to find ways to determine that you are not covered. For employees it gets worse every year, every year they demand more money, and you are insured for less and less and you pay more. It's way out of control.

I could not agree with you more. And, don't get me started on the paperwork involved!

Heh, heh...Wonder if I ever wore one of your designs...was hooked up to Holter Event system or whatever they call it for a while. Forget what I had, but the Holter recorded irregular blips from time to time. Dr. put me on medication and I went downhill very quickly, according to Holter report and the way I felt. My primary dr. sent me to another cardiologist who said I was not only on the wrong medication but at levels way too high even if it was the correct medication. Had to taper off and get on correct med and then taper off that, too. Feel fine now, heartwise, unless I read a Maureen Dowd column or something like that!
