Not to worry. This could never happen here. The terrorists are not allowed to bring guns near a school.
You're correct, I've seen the signs. To be on the safe side though, maybe they should put some up in Arabic.

I'm no fan of CNN, but you can't deny that they are hostage takers

You are right of coarse. We should let them keep killing a hundred here, a thousand here while doing nothing. We wouldn't dare stoop to that level to win a WAR. Good thing people like you were not in charge during WWII. We wiped out whole cities in order to break the will of the enemy to fight. Those cities provided the personnel/materials/labor to wage war. We should have waited for the tanks to get to the front lines before destroying them. If we blew up the factory we could kill an innocent person. That makes a lot of sense. These cities and countries are providing the material to wage war. Those materials are people.

Fox just mentioned again that there are ten terrorists dead. "Many" of them are Arabs.

I assume Checny must be Russia's main source of oil,got this from a source cited several places:
"both Chechnya and Tatarstan possess substantial oil reserves, with Tatarstan alone producing 25% of the Russian yield."
as far as I can tell, Chechnya appears to have reserves, but not much production.

That's a valid point I wish more people would make. If you want to convince the "Arab street" to denounce terrorism, light up the Arab street. If they think we're going to quit bombing them when the terrorists stop killing people, maybe they'll convince the terrorists to stop killing people.

I don't care if we convince the people or not. If they are dead they cant fight any more. We are in this for the long term. They 1.5 Billion and we have 300 Million. A 1 for 1 strategy and we lose big time. I has to be 100 to 1 or 1000 to 1. Are you willing to wait until your praying outside your kids school for some crazed Muslim not to kill your kids? I am not! I am willing to die with a guilty conscious so that my kids can live peacefully and not have to make those choices themselves.

Bull Puckey!
Unless, of course, you mean letting missiles loose without locking the target acquisition information into the targeting system of the weapon.(which would be an utter waste of munitions and money).
Oh yeah. One more thing. Japan. No, wait. We did target two cities specifically, so I guess your right again there with that pesky adjective "indiscriminately".
To: SittinYonder; Free_in_Alabama
So what are you going to do? Find out which cities those ten terrorists came from and bomb them? You think we should have bombed the cities the 9/11 terrorists came from instead of cleaning up Afghanistan and Iraq? Sorry, I go with cleaning up the breeding grounds (ie Afghanistan) and drying up their support.

You miss the point. The support is in their religion/society. When was the last time you was any Muslim protest the actions of these terrorist. NEVER! The either actively support or passively support it. This is not to say all Muslims -- Just the Radical sects. Destroy their base of operation.

To: Free_in_Alabama
You can fight out military but if you go after kids we will take out you entire city. The gloves must come off. The Russians are even more sentimental about their kids than Americans. For example they don't spank them, even if they should very badly need spanking. Explains alot when you think about it. But, be that as it may, they will not take kindly to their kids being the object of terrrorist attacks. Not kindly at all.

Clearly what you're talking about is a strategy, and one that has been employed effectively, I think. What I'm talking about is a reaction, which is probably why Bush didn't appoint me National Security Advisor or Secretary of Defense. While your strategy may be more effective, my reaction makes me feel better. And in the end, isn't that what it's all about: Making me feel better?
Time will tell, though, if the strategy is successful. In a generation will we have eliminated Islamic terrorism, or will we have to revert to my reaction and just eliminate Islam? Muslims have been fighting the west a lot longer than you or I have been around. They used to be pesky and all we had to do was send Stephen Decatur to deal with them. Now they're dangerous.

"I understand your outrage. But if we kill civilians indiscriminately, then the terrorists win: we have become like them.Good thing for us you were not running the show in WWII.
To: Free_in_Alabama
There are many who advocate just that. Many southerans view Sherman as a war crimnal (which he was by todays standards) for the tatics he used.
The horrible things is this can turn us into the type of people we are fighting.

Good!
When the media starts complaining about the Russian response, I will write letters to the editors, supporting their response. I always laugh at those people who cant handle the "real world" decisions that have to be made. Yet they are the same people who want to complain about all the silly crap that is simply part of life. The "we cant stoop to that level" line works well when its a 5000 miles away. They even use it when its 1000 miles away. They will be the first to piss their pants and blame someone else when its 1 mile away. If it doesn't effect them they cant comprehend the pain.

So what are you going to do? Find out which cities those ten terrorists came from and bomb them? This is not a bad idea, especially since we are now hearing that half of them are from Arab countries. However, something must be done to point out the harm that is done when children are taken hostage. I would think moving the people out of these towns and leveling them would be a sign that Russia is holding back.
