Reuters highlights the agony of suspense over the fate of French hostages seized by terrorists. "France faces another day of hostage anguish today after a deadline to revoke a law banning Muslim headscarves in schools passed without news of the fate of two French reporters held by Islamic militants." If the sight of Third World diplomats pleading for the lives of their citizens is heart-rending, the sight of proud France -- for however one may regard that country the fact of its pride is not in dispute -- calling out into the dark for its lost sheep is pure pathos.
The most diabolical aspect of the terrorist's cruelty is that they have placed the symbolic dagger of execution into the hands of the French themselves. The French open their schoolday with the the subconcious understanding that upholding the headscarf ban may end the lives of two men. This tranferrence of guilt is terrorism's greatest lie: that the ultimate responsibility for a hostage's death lies in the failure of his loved ones to capitulate fully to their monstrous demands. It is a lie which the Left never tires of repeating but it is false all the same. Albert Camus once wryly wrote in the Rebel that "on the day when crime dons the apparel of innocence -- through a curious transposition peculiar to our times -- it is innocence that is called upon to justify itself." He was referring to Stalin, but alas, both for the world and for France, the evil the Left worshipped never died.
France needs to surrender entirely. Allow the headscarves! Now!
FOX news reporting hostages have been released to a group of Iraqis and will be returned to France..(breaking)
France has now joined the U.S. in calling for a UN resolution to demand that Syria withdraw its forces from Lebanon.
Coincidentally, the U.S. just happens to have in the region the appropriate force for enforcing that resolution...
5 Legislative Days Left Until The AWB Expires
I am sure that their are many Frenchmen that are disgusted about what has become of their country. The time has come for them to stand up and stop their elected officials leftist views in the next election.
We will do it here in November, they can do it next!
PS: I am at least 1/2 French by birth.
I would bet granny's rum bearing cow, that the Islamanazis will release their allies - the French hostages, without anything more than a "fair thee well".

How can you tell which end FRENCH PRIDE emits from?
It's it an oxymoron anyway? Kind of like Hillary's ankles.
Chirac musing: Allowing the headscarves would be undemocratically discriminatory, unless...unless EVERYONE is made to wear headscarves! That might work, and leave us some face too.
I find no matter what sound is emitted by the French, it all sounds and smells the same.....
Only bath once a week? LOL
Actually, I kind of sympathize with the Islamofasicts on this question. Don't forget, this ban on the wearing of Muslim headscarves by french-muslim school-girls was part and parcel of a ban on the wearing of any conspicuous religious symbol to school. In this country, such an order would be met by at least lawsuits, and at worst by massive disobedience by the students. I can envision American students greeting something similar to this order by conspicuously wearing headscarves AND crucifixes AND stars of David, all at the same time.
Alas, there are all too many in the educational establishment, and the courts, who share the philosophy of the French government on this question.

Oh no, you're using reason, not humor. You win. Actually I am a free-marketer for education services (or just about any other services or products). Let buyers decide, and sellers won't care that much what the buyers wear (unless it's a niche sale). I don't really care when the Moslims wear scarves, (only suicide belts). The French domestic policy is certainly stupid, but allowing terrorists to trump it would be stupidity cubed. There'd be no end.
