Correct. This article is just shilling for Judicial Watch. Send money.

I think the story has legs - 4 months, 4 campaign stars. No way in hildies world. I did a full Marine tour and only have the ribbon, that counts for 1(one), a star (additional) would count as the second.

I don't think the Marines do anything different for Vietnam Service Medal campaign stars than the Navy does. Stars on the VSM don't indicate additional awards like they do on most ribbons. You should have at least one star on yours. If your time in-country overlapped into two separate campaign periods, you'd have two.

Kerry got two stars for his Gridley cruise because it overlapped two periods. His Swift time also overlapped two periods. He legitimately has the four stars shown for his VSM.

Vietnam Service Medal campaign periods

VSM qualifications

Yeah, this is going nowhere. The "legit" news will never even mention it. No traction.

Just like the Swiftboats story, right?

Good to see I'm not alone.

If he doesn't know what these things mean, and he was a O (zero, Officer)then no way in our world does he have whats needed to be on top. He must have DUs advising him too. HA HA

I merit the ribbon (but always felt a little quilty about wearing it because I didn't complete a full tour--having volunteered for sub duty out of bootcamp and was picked up after only 134 days in DaNang)...so how does JFK rate TWO for only four months?

Yea, I especially like how the Navy spokesman is not named or quoted.

This is HUGE!

I've heard as much from other sources. Let's hope the right media outlets pursue it.

While I agree that the focus should be MAINLY on the treason that Kerry committed after Nam

IMO, the focus should be on Kerry's Senate record. THEN his communistic encounters with the VC, THEN his 'war' medals.

It's only smokescreening , it's what Kerry WANTS, to go after the Vietnam stuff and leave his Senate record to rot on the shelf.

Judicial Watch filed a formal complaint with the DOD Inspector General asking for investigation into the medals. That more or less puts a process in motion, at least the referral of the complaint to the Navy for a preliminary inquiry. Required by reg/statute if an IG complaint is submitted.

One of the PH's (the first) was definitely incorrectly awarded. The other two were awarded based on action reports that were probably written by Kerry. Any way you cut it, it's gonna sting.

Teresa Heinz Kerry will be elected president due to sympathy votes.

That's a good one.

In Missouri, they left the decedent on the ballot because, IIRC, it was too late to change the ballot.

The ately departed loved one then defeated John Ashcroft with the help of a judge who left the polls in St Louis open well past closing time.

With the late Senator unable to function in his elected role, his bereaved wife was appointed by the Gubernator of Missou.

One could, of course, ask what would then be the difference between the decedent's and John Kerry's records. But that would be mean.

Therefore, strictly speaking, TeeRayZuh will be appointed by acclamation.

As is, of course, her due. The hoi polloi will cheer her every move.

I don't think it has anything to do with full tours. The guy that got dinged his second week in and never walked again earned it, as did YOU !

OldSgt. said: "... only have the ribbon, that counts for 1(one), a star (additional) would count as the second. "

Are you confident about this? I don't have time to check now, but I came away before with the idea that the ribbon itself did not represent the first campaign.
