Dick Cheney quoted Bernardo de Voto who wrote
that the accomplishment of the Constitutional Convention was so astonishing that the stars must have danced in the sky when the delegates gathered.
I wondered who he was, and found this earlier speech by the Vice President's wife and some biographical information about de Voto. Please share and enjoy.

Hi risk! de Voto's Journals of Lewis and Clark is outstanding. A single volume, it's an absolute "must" if you love Am. history, and particularly the West.
Great post. Thank you!

Can you imagine how interesting the dinner table chatter in the Cheney household must be?
