Al-Sadr: Dutch troops should keep to their base in Iraq
Radio Netherlands ^ | September 01 2004

A representative of the radical Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has warned the Dutch troops in Iraq to stay inside their base. He said the attacks on Dutch troops will end only if they halt their efforts to arrest fighters of his Mahdi Army. Ghazi al-Zargani made his statement in an interview with the Japanese news agency Kyodo.

Kyodo also reports that the Dutch army has begun negotiations with local followers of Mr al-Sadr. A delegation reportedly visited the office of the Mahdi Army in the city of as-Samawah on Monday. The discussion, which took place at the entrance to the building, lasted about an hour and a half. The Dutch Defence Ministry denies any such conversation took place.

Radio Netherlands has learned from sources in The Hague that the Dutch Defence Ministry is sending a number of commandos and military intelligence officers to Iraq. Surveillance technology and specialists will be deployed to eavesdrop on local radio communications.

The measures, which up to now were secret, are designed to increase the intelligence capacities of Dutch troops in Iraq. The fear is that, since the transfer of power to Iraq's interim government at the end of June, Dutch forces have been increasingly unable to keep abreast of local developments and possible threats.

They don't count because they're not French or German.

Somebody's got to put a bullet into al-Sadr's mutton head. I don't care if its Sistani's boys, the US Marines, or Dutch commandos.

Hell, I don't care if it's P-Diddy, as long as somebody shoots him already.

Yes. Enough is enough. We have jacked around with that POS long enough. Time for a reverse IED. Air-embolism. "Accident." Squib. Short-round. Whatever it takes.

P-Diddy, eh? Not a bad thought there... If we ever reinstate the draft, maybe we should send the gang-bangers first.

Looks to me like al-Sadr hasn't learned his lesson yet.

When oh when are we just gonna grease this son of a whore and put him out of our misery??

Now, THAT is how Kerry could pull a few GOP votes.
