I just listened to Don and Roma on WLS-AM 890 in Chicago. This is morning talk radio that tends to be conservative. They had their regular visit from Peter Jennings this morning (who comes on a few times a month).
After a brief talk about Arnold and the convention last night, Don asked Peter Jennings why nobody in the media will even ask John Kerry a question about the Swift boat vets' accusations or his Christmas in Cambodia. Peter Jennings responded that, (perhaps not an exact quote) "none of the Swift boat critics were on the boat with John Kerry."
That's right, he's actually reading the talking points from the Kerry campaign now. I know, I know......we're not supposed to be surprised at media bias, let alone Peter Jennings; but this was beyond even what I could believe. He basically said in the interview that he's not going to ask John Kerry any questions about any of the allegations, EVER, and that the Swift boat vets are liars.
This on is just beyond the pale, even for media bias...
Hmmmm. John Kerry has "admitted" that some of his 1971 testimony was exagerated (lies). John Kerry reported on more than just the people "on his boat".
Petah's double standard won't hold water.
Right!
All John F Kerry has to do...to blow the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth out of the water...
Is to release his records....that will prove to the whole country....that John F Kerry
Is fit for command....won't it?
Not one of their talking heads will even address this issue....
Yet they all insisted that President Bush release his records....which was done.....
So Put up or shut up....
imo
WRONG. Peter Jennings is WRONG. Steve Garner was on board with sKerry till Jan. 23, 1969.
Sorry if I came across a little harsh. But next time you hear a dim spout this off you can b!t@h slap them with that fact.
Also, Kerry's immediate commander was not on the same boat, but is a SBVT
Guess ol'Pete didn't see the Swift Boat ad featuring Steve Gardner. Think he shielded his eyes and plugged his ears?
As I recall, the Swift boat veteran who works for the Chicago Tribune wrote a piece which seems to support kerry's stories and refute the Swifties points. However, a close reading of the article reveals the Trib guy also was not on our hero's boat. Yet, the media use that piece to breathlessly shoot down the Swifties. Bias, anyone?
Moreover, he makes the point that the Swift boats were very noisy, readily heard coming. This, and their relatively deep draft versus PBRs or SEAL combat boats, and use of twin screws rather than Jacuzzis, would seem to preclude their use in SEAL insertions/extractions, for example, in shallow waters of Cambodia. Sort of, indirectly of course, contradicting kerry. But, no one in the LMSM has mentioned that, either.
I'm in.
If you apply the same logic they are using it will destroy their whole argument. So not WRONG, except for th instant where one person was on the boat. But the point is they point is wrong, and if they take the position that it isn't than they discredit Kerry themseleves.
Don't neglect to tell how Don cleaned Peter's clock.
Hey Nick, I heard your call on Don and Roma. Good job! (I listen every morning)
I like when Don asked Peter about the Swift Vets and Peter responded that theres nothing there Don, absolutely nothing! He sounded more like a campaign worker that a news man to me.
