Finally, Katie raised the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth: "how do you feel about the controversy?" Interestingly, Kerrey didn't claim it was a W campaign set-up. To the contrary, he said the Swiftees "hate" Kerry for his 1971 testimony. That suggests their ads are authentic.

I wonder: Perhaps Kerrey also resents Kerry's 1971 testimony? Could he be supporting his party's nominee through somewhat clenched teeth?

Very interesting thought. Could well be. Can there be any doubt that Bob Kerrey thinks he's a better man than John Kerry?

Don't forget last year when Kerrey was accused of being a Viet Nam war criminal. No doubt that caused him great personal angst (well deserved).

Kerrey, Medal of Honor winner (nominated by Admiral Hoffman), probably resents a LOT of things about faux-hero-cum-hippie-protestor Kerry. Kerry attempted to claim Kerrey's accomplishments in the senate as his own. Innocent mistake by staffers? I don't know...he pulled the same cr*p with claiming the actions of other Swift Boat commanders as his own, as well as actions, meetings, and leadership aboard the Gridley. Maybe he's just hoping nobody notices, and then when they do, "it was all just an innocent mistake by staffers."

BTW, as per Unfit for Command, when Kerry first called Admiral Hoffman to get his endorsement to run for the presidency as the Democrat nominee, Hoffman says he was excited and enthusiastic about supporting him. Oh, hang on, you mean this is John Kerry, not Bob Kerrey? As soon as he realized he was talking to the Weasel, he became gruff and terminated the phone call. He would have wholeheartedly supported a presidential run by Democrat Bob Kerrey, he says. But supporting a presidential run by Democrat John Kerry? Fuggetaboutit. And don't call me again.

Please have a look at my companion thread describing the absolutely mind-boggling way in which Katie Couric just got through dissing Michael Moore:

Well, Kerrey is one of those who knows that there were nuggets of truth in Kerry's 1971 testimony. Knows.
