Kerry appearance at American Legion - live thread
self

Posted on 09/01/2004 4:46:34 AM PDT by rudy45

Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?

I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?

Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.

From what you heard, did Bush get a better reception?

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. speaks to the 86th Annual National American Legion Convention in Nashville, Tenn. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004.

I'm sure the vets appreciated having Effin' Kerry waggle his finger at them.

You've got major trust issues!!!

I watched it too, he walked to his right, then turned and walked back across the stage and out. Fox never showed the audience directly in front of him.

Have faith in the Swifties. They're coming out with more ads, each more devastating than the last. The RATs are panicking, the MSM is panicking...they've concealed horrendous internal Kerry polling numbers, fearing that if they get out, it'll be like Niagara Falls and Kerry's going over without a barrel. He's doomed. The only thing he can hope for in another 9/11 here before the election with great loss of life. Then he could say Bush hadn't done enough to protect the country. That's a heck of a way to get up in the morning, though...hoping thousands of your fellow Americans get blown to bits. But I bet that's just what he's hoping for. It's the only thing that might resurrect his campaign. He'd still lose, though.

He is a train wreck. As for the polls, I don't look at them. I don't need a poll to tell us the Big Mo is behind us. The GOP Convention has been pretty spectacular so far. You can feel the excitement. On the other side, the Frenchurian Candidate is just going through the motions. Remember, his next event is holding a campaign rally in Ohio at midnight. That's a visual metaphor for his campaign being in the basement. He'd get more votes if he stayed home til November but thankfully he's too full of it to take some sound advice.

"I am gonna vote for Kerry on November 9, 2004."

If you did that, you'd be cat food, and you know it.

It was so dark. He's going to talk to people at midnight Thursday. Who is this guy? I'm thinking Kerrycula here.

An unmitigated disaster for F'in. There was no love in that room today. Read the MSM's accounts and it's clear that they are very careful to mention not one iota anything about the reception he received (or did NOT receive, as the case may be).

His is a sinking ship, no doubt about it. The more he appears in public, the worse he gets.

Come to think of it, Mike Barnicle looks very ill at ease, but he also thoguht Kerry was going to get trashed today.

Here's a good question: if the AL doesn't blow Kerry out of the water; who will? There is no group of people who should be more put off by Kerry and yet they reqistered no obvious displeasure with him-- that's a bad message to send to the American electorate.

Leno's been working Kerry over pretty good the past couple of nights. Worth staying up for.

Yes I remember.

Papa Bush was just too anxious to please everyone. He couldn't withstand all the pressure. Worn out, I guess.

Dubya is not his father's son.

Is Kerry the one that demanded that the crowd not be shown? When Bush speaks in front of hostile black (NAACP and such) crowds, he never gets that kind of help. They always focus on people sitting on their hands and shooting daggers Bush's way. Kerry got a pass. So all you hear is cheers. That choice does effect how people perceive this. For all I know, 1000 men could have been sitting on their hands and Kerry's traveling band of enablers were the only ones applauding, but still the message sent is that Kerry made it easily over the bar.

Jay Leno: "What made" the US women gymnasts "so good is they perfected some new moves. That was the whole thing. My favorite was the triple reverse double backflip, where you end up the same place you started. I think that's called 'The John Kerry.'"

Jay Leno: "Speaking at a church in Manhattan, Bill Clinton suggested that the Republicans forgot the Commandment, 'Thou shall not lie.' And believe me, when it comes to forgetting Commandments, Bill Clinton knows what he's talking about, ladies and gentlemen."

Jay Leno: "The Republican National Convention got under way in New York last night. Or as the Democrats call it, 'Fear factor.'"

Jay Leno: "Michael Moore was at the Republican convention last night, covering it for USA Today. Is that really the most unbiased reporter USA Today could find?"

Jay Leno: "Security, very tight at the Republican convention. In fact, even the NRA people only allowed to bring one gun each."

David Letterman: Michael Moore "was at the Republican convention last night, which explains the extraordinarily tight security around the buffet."

David Letterman: "John Kerry, of course, yesterday went wind surfing because when you're in a statistical dead heat, it's time to kick back and relax."

Conan O'Brien: "The Secret Service tackled a man at Madison Square Garden because he was screaming profanities and running towards Vice President Dick Cheney's seat. Yeah. Afterwards, the Secret Service said they never realized Michael Moore could move so fast."

But isn't that extraordinary that that happened to a war hero who never slandered his comrades, who just led his country to a victory in war in the post Vietnam era?

And now these thread dwellers tell me that the AL people were too polite to engage in that kind of thing? What bull!!!

But then again, we didn't get a look at them.
