Kerry appearance at American Legion - live thread
self

Posted on 09/01/2004 4:46:34 AM PDT by rudy45

Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?

I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?

Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.

You sound like Kerry in 1971.

You've done nothing but trash the vets in every damn post. Most people knoew Kerry would get polite applause, if for no other reason than they are too polite to just walk out while he's speaking. Even suggesting that "they want to assist his campaign" with tepid applause is disingenuous.

Go ahead and keep your money, then. My suspicion is that you didn't give that much, anyway.

I Love this. Did you notice he started out with "When I am president" and ended with "IF I am president"?

Even he noticed he is sinking into the depths of no return

Man .. there was little applause at the end.

The "optics" were just a disaster.

What lousy camera work -- there *were* people behind him, but we didn't get to see their reactions.

The KISS OF DEATH. He just said, "IF I am your next President...." His hope is completely shattered.

The AL conventioneers have fallen down. This ain't what the Country needed today. Acquiescing to his bullsh*t is really not good for the Country.

I don't understand why you're miffed. "Scant applause in a packed room" is probably even worse for Kerry than the stony-faced silence you appear to want.

What a clod he is to have broken the tradition of not campaigning during the other party's convention for this! A chance to use old vets he formerly trashed as props.

Brings up McCain again

If we had a drinking game with "Vietnam" and "John McCain," we'd be plastered from now till the election.

That was a pretty lame consluding applause. Everyone stood up to stretch their legs, few were clapping.

President Bush was in Lima the other day. I gave my tickets to my son [he's in the ANG] and his wife. He talked for about 45 minutes, then had a question and answer session. During his speech, he called on local business owners to give their perspectives. After he was done speaking, he hung around for another 45 minutes greeting the people. He spent a considerable amount of time with a lady, who's son was being deployed. He talked to my sister, who also got his autograph. All those I talked to said he was down-to-earth and easy to be around.

Coming into town, instead of taking the major routes, he took the back streets, where lower income and poor people live. When he left to go to Toledo, he didn't take Interstate 75, but rural routes that took him through many small towns. That's Bush and just another reason to vote for him.
