GRUDGE MATCH! Old Press VS Stupid White Man
The Kerry Fairy ^ | 08/31/04 | Becki Snow

If I were a betting woman, I'd say that Michael Moore just wore out his welcome. But with THE PRESS? Really? No way, you are SO lying to me...

Nay, gentle reader, it is TRUE, as per the Washington Times:

Before Mr. McCain had finished his speech, Mr. Moore was escorted toward an elevator and out of the arena by several New York police officers. When reporters tried to follow, they were shoved back and barred from leaving.

Well, okay, but that "enabled exit" is an expected gift for Michael Moore from the Republicans. I mean, come ON, this is the man who flashed the "L is for 'Loser'" sign at John McCain.

He not only did that, but according to Newsmax he also told the Virginia Delegation "F*** you".

NewsMax's Wes Vernon spoke with Morton Blackwell, the GOP National Committeeman from Virginia and head of the Leadership Institute.

Reports that Michael Moore was gracious and friendly to convention goers may be unfounded.

Here's what Blackwell observed:

"In this hallway here [just outside the convention arena] roughly a half hour before [McCain refered to Moore as a 'disingenuous filmmaker'] a conservative lady from a mid-western state, whom I happen to know, went up to him [Moore] as he was walking and said something like 'May God save you' -- in essence, in a very nice Christian way, calling on him to mend his ways.

"Moore's response was 'F--- you,' These were people who who were guarding him [who accompanied him out of Madison Square Garden].

"They were afraid that somehow these Republican ladies and gengtlemen(sic) would become a menace too(sic) him, which was rather preposterous."

That presents a rather delightful scenario: imagine a little old Virginian lady opening a good old fashioned can of Wh00p-*ss on Moore mountainous behind. But then, suddenly, it presents itself as a situation which Michael Moore might rather enjoy...

One can almost hear Moore's gurgling cries: "Ooooh, arrest MEeee. Roughhouse meEEeee. I LUUUV it"... etc, etc, etc. Ewwwwwww.

But beyoned the "ewwww" factor, I am disappointed. I mean, "F*** you?" How common! How protestor-pedestrian of Moore. Even Dick Cheney uses that word nowadays. Yawn. Plus, I find the "staged exit" to be cliche, and slightly used. I have grown to expect more from John Kerry's protestors and Hollywood shills - entertain me, peons! I expect theater, not vaudeville!

But (back to the Washington Times) this - THIS is the good stuff:

Earlier, Mr. Moore's arrival in the press section right above the floor led to his being immediately swamped by reporters, photographers and camera crews upon taking his seat.

When asked whether he had trouble with security, he said, "New York City police have been very helpful."

"It's perfectly OK. I haven't had any negative experiences," he said.

Associated Press reporters nearby got angry because their work was being disturbed and asked Mr. Moore to end the commotion. He told them he would stop answering questions, and security pushed some of the reporters away."

I am intrigued - nay, I am EXCITED by the prospective ruckus that could have taken place between the AP reporters and Michael Moore. Fisticuffs? Badminton? Who knows what kind of unbridled mayhem might have broken out between these two groups! (Yes, Michael Moore is big enough to count as a "group".) The prospect of nerdy reporters and a Jabba-the-Hutt impersonator taking girl-like slaps at each other makes me positively giddy -

"Stop it!" *SLAP* "No, YOU stop it!" *SLAP* "Witch!" *SLAP* "Diva!" *slap slap slap slap*

Alas, the lack of such a magnificent scene makes me quote Whittier:

For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: "It might have been!"

And the truth of the verbal showdown? That, too, may be lost to record. When Michael Moore speaks, one can expect a 100% chance of prevarication with scattered glowers; on the other hand, the AP reporters - all tired out from their journalist frenzy - may never speak of this traumatic experience again.

That's too bad. It's always entertaining when a publicity hound bites the hand that feeds him...

Old Media needs Moore to try and gin up their pathetic ratings.

New Media is doing THEIR job, only better.

I'll put freeper researchers up against anyone in Old Media.

Moore needs, in the words of Stone Cold Steve Austin, "A can of whoop-ass opened up on him"!

There's the Old Media - you know the tired stuffy self-important types and their old boy/gal/it network.

And then there's the truly progressive media - you know, those of us effectively making use of new technology, new paradigms and new ideas (about ownership of one's own retirement, pre-emptive national security policy, and the now novel idea of embracing traditional marriage).

Too bad nobody was following him around with a handheld camera--he could use a taste of his own medicine.
