Britney Spears to perform at the Republican National Convention?

Britney Spear's GOP Flap

Britney Spears has been asked to sing at another kind of Bush bash: a party at the Republican National Convention in Madison Square Garden.

A couple of social conservative groups aren't happy about Spears' presence. Traditional Values Coalition's Andrea Lafferty told the Scoop: "I do hope she won't be there. If she is there, I doubt that she'll be gyrating on stage. And I hope she doesn't have a wardrobe malfunction."

Makes you wonder if she anticipates that Justin Timberlake has some Garden party plans.

Another group, Illinois Family Institute, is also perturbed at the possibility of the Republican pop tart performing. The group sent out an e-mail that read, "Through her immature antics, Spears has probably done more to undermine sexual morality than all the misguided legislation introduced in the United States over the last decade."

IFI has even asked its members to phone the convention and protest the Spears' pending concert.

Spears certainly has made some mistakes in the past, such as not wearing enough clothing, planting one on Madonna at last year's MTV Video Music Awards and marrying a guy for just a few minutes.

But there's always hope for Britney.

The Left Coast Report says who knows, she could end up hanging with Sara Evans and Faith Hill instead of Madonna.

I'm no Brittany fan, but if she is also making a good faith effort to seek forgiveness for her misdeeds, then perhaps the tightasses could loosen up a bit.

RNC is a huge tent that covers alot of people. I understand the concern these family gorups have about having her there but geez. The party shouldnt limit ourselves to a bunch of hoitsy toitsy broadway types.

Like Don King, Brittany Spears hardly embodies all the tenants of the RNC platform but if she wants to make an effort in helping elect George Bush, who am I to say she shouldn't be allowed to? Why do we hold such litmus tests to people who would like to attend and perform at this convention?

Even Nader is allowed to be there but we got people focusing on Brittany and thinking she is going to make the whole convention into some sexual party with chicks on chicks and dudes on dudes. Get real.

We shall see....
IMO she cannot sing and has no knowledge of life, and if she is there to represent her generation, I think she is a bad choice. In fact I really can't think of any celebrity between the age of 18 to 25 that would be a good role model.

I highly doubt that she will now, besides the fact of IFI and other groups discouraging her from going. The simple fact is if she hasnt accepted by now she never will.

That 15-hour Vegas marriage is the first thing the gays reach for when debating the gay marriage issue and its probable further devaluing of the institution. I could forgive just about anything else. True we have all done dumb things when twenty-one, we just didn't have mega-bucks to play with.

What with this knee trouble of hers her gyrating days, at least, may be at an end. Who can say, she might take up a more mature phase to her career and unveil it (and only it) at the Garden

Brittney is so immature I think she is being pushed by her pushy mother, who is trying to keep her in the "Hot Spot"
