In any event, it took a remarkable amount of courage for John Kerry, and others like him, to take an active public stand against the war they had just helped fight.
They knew that in a pro-war culture they would be looked down upon as traitors. They knew they'd be linked with Jane Fonda and the myths surrounding her anti-war efforts.
The Vietnam vets who despise Kerry do so because he has helped rob them of the glory they feel they deserve. Most of them, like most of the WWII vets, were dragged into battle through the Selective Service System. They were drafted. They didn't want to be in a war. But once there they did what was expected of them, which was no more nor less than the WWII vets did.
They crave the same respect.
Does John Kerry still have the courage he exhibited after returning from Vietnam? If he does, and if he's elected, our troops will be out of Iraq by next February.
Courageous or not, Kerry is a peace-loving American's only hope. The incumbent president (Mr. Bring It On) has signaled he'll be sending others off to fight for as long as he holds the office.

I'm sure Kerry still has the same courage he exhibited after returning from Vietnam.
I'm also sure that our troops will in no way be out of Iraq by next February.
Shaking your fist at the man and 'his war' are easy when you're not the man. Were Kerry to become President, he'd be personally responsible for the aftermath of pulling out of Iraq. Doing so by February would be criminally negligent, and the ensuing foriegn policy disasters would shatter Democrat fortunes in the next few elections.
Kerry may be a spineless liberal, but unlike the writers at S.F. Gate, he's not stupid. There will be no troop withdrawls under his term, any faster then there would be under Bush. And that's a fact.
You'll want to hit your ping lists on this one.
What we have here is the core Kerry supporter, on full display, in all his regalia.
I have seen the enemy: it is Harley Sorensen and his ilk in the mainstream media.
And, while we're at it, let's give Harley credit. He's at least honest about it.
The fact that one of his supportrs could write a piece like this, shows the box Kerry's in..any attempt to "reach ut" to the Vietnam era vets, to proffer a "NAA"..that's non-apologetic apology, will trigger a backlash from the hard left..those who grew up convinced of the righteousness of their anti-war protests..
This is the central lie in the piece. It was, actually, an intensely anti-war culture everywhere Kerry went, from the campuses where Fonda and her ilk were tres chic, to the halls of Washington DC under the protecting wings of Fulbright and Kennedy. There was no, repeat NO, penalty to be paid or problem faced by someone who wanted to swim with that current, and the proof of this is that Kerry parlayed it into a Senatorial career, not a jail cell.
The mask cracks a bit when the author attempts to dismiss Fonda's activities as "myths." They were nothing of the sort, they were overt, public, and incredibly damaging to the men in uniform and especially to the POWs. It is this pretense that has been a hallmark of the anti-war left since those days, a story repeated endlessly until its proponents thought they had the world convinced. They only convinced themselves.
Kerry's anti-Vietnam Veteran activities must be kept on the front burner. The media now has the DemoRAT orders to bury any of these stories.
Well...duh...they WERE linked with Jane Fonda. She was the financier and organizational head.
Kerry betrayed his brothers-in-arms.
This is an effort to innoculate him as the depths of his treachery are probed over the next few months.
Just darn!!
"Kerry's anti-Vietnam Veteran activities must be kept on the front burner."
Time to turn up the heat on Kerry's anti war protests!

Isn't that peace-loving Kerry's line?
WHERE IS THE "BARF ALERT"!?!?!?! :-)
IOW, Hanoi Jane lied!
Thanks for the ping!
Goo goo ga joo, ya gotta love this stuff. Do you imagine this writer believes he's helping JF'nK?
Once the truth about Viet Nam is known, what does the Left have left?
