The Federal Election Commission leadership is "corrupt" and should resign for refusing to regulate political groups that are spending millions of dollars to attack both presidential candidates, Sen. John McCain said yesterday. [snip]Retired Adm. Roy Hoffman, founder of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and Mr. Kerry's former commander, also told Time that his group will run the ads until the election, despite condemnation from Republicans and Democrats. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has raised $2.5 million on its Web site since the original advertising buy of $500,000. Anti-Bush groups such as America Coming Together, MoveOn.org and the Media Fund have raised a combined $64 million.
[snip]
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Democrat, dismissed the Swift Boat ads as an attempt to "fight the Vietnam War all over again."
"The bottom line is that these were, you know, smears. And I think the American public are seeing that," Mrs. Clinton said on CNN's "Late Edition."

The Keating Five
were are corrupt too, Johnny Boy. And you are one of those Five. Why is your butt still in the public eye?
McCain needs to disappear and take care of that lump on his face.

He no doubt will have soemthing to say about this at the convention. He better watch his tongue.

I have a better idea. How about John McCain resigns for sponsoring one of the most corrupt campaign finance "reform" bills ever passed. Oh yeah, I like that MUCH better.

I happened to catch a bit of the Tina Brown show on CNBC. I don't even know who she is, but I'm not impressed. Anyway, she was doing a piece on McCain, you know how badly he was treated by Bush in 2000, blah, blah, blah. I didn't even watch it once I saw where she was going, but the funny thing is she started the piece off with "Everybody's favorite Republican, John McCain..." Obviously "everybody" only covers people on the left.

When the founding fathers framed the First Amendment they intended that only elected government officials and licensed members of the news media be allowed to express political opinions in public.
Everyone else should keep their mouths shut.

McCain is the LAST person in the world who should be criticizing 527s. HIS bill created them. Shut up for once, Senator Mc Cain.

Do not watch "Tina", her show was designed to introduce a "humane" Hillry to us.
This has to be the Clintons talking points of the week, Billy Kristol on Fox News last night predicted that VP Cheney would feign health problems and McCain would take his place.
Andy Mitchell on which ever channel Chrisssssssie Matthews was on was using the same "mongrel phrase" ( a little Douglas Brinkley" language).

James Carville running like a gazelle after it. Speaking of James, I saw his wife Mary Matalin on the tube last night. She is looking BAD. If you shaved her head, she would look exactly like James.

The 527s are all operating under the restraints of the CFR law that McCain wrote. There seems to be some evidence that Moveon.com and the other huge one have coordinated activies with the Kerry campaign, but there is NO evidence that SBVT is NOT operating according to the law. None.
McCain should shut up, but he is trying to protect his legacy, CFR. Just as Kerry should have shut up about the SBVT, so should McCain shut up about the FED & his CFR. But he won't.

There seems to be some evidence that Moveon.com and the other huge one have coordinated activies with the Kerry campaign, but there is NO evidence that SBVT is NOT operating according to the law. None. If you ask me, this is all quite cagey. McCain knows that SBVfT has operated according to the law, but that most of the Dim (if not all) 527s have violated it. The SBVfT are in the center of the press eye, so they will assume that anything negative said about the 527s is meant for them. But if the FEC actually investigated, that would be the only 527 left standing.
Bush's call to end them all would hurt Kerry far more than Bush. McCain's call to have the FEC actually do their job would hurt Kerry far more than Bush.
This is an example of taking the rope the Liberals have been playing out and hanging them with it.
Bush reaching out to McCain in all of this was double genius because the press won't suspect him.
Shalom.
